My friend David Sabatini continues to be relentlessly targeted by gossip-driven tabloids pretending to be trusted scientific institutions. Science magazine’s latest piece is yet another one-sided hit job — downplaying or ignoring that the legal outcome was mixed, with some claims proceeding to trial and others moving to appellate review. I’ve spoken to dozens of his former lab members, all of whom describe him as a generous and dedicated mentor. I’ve also talked to many women who worked closely with him and never had concerns about anything resembling a sexualized work environment. Yet most remain silent. David was railroaded in a metoo-era mob campaign amplified by click-hungry reporters and social media trolls. All he’s ever wanted is to return to doing science — the work that defined his life. As long as Science and outlets like it continue pretending to be arbiters of truth while operating as gossip mills, reputations will keep being destroyed - and truth will remain secondary to spectacle. science.org/content/articl…

📢New paper alert!! With @boothbylab @alexholehouse @fried_lab we take a look at how an entire proteome survives desiccation. TLDR: Desiccation tolerance is encoded in specific residues on the protein surface, and occurs primarily in biosynthetic enzymes. shorturl.at/U5VS1

Ok, this is a big one! Proud to present our latest story on hydropatterning-a process that allows plants to sense moisture gradients in soil and activate branching. Johannes Scharwies defines the genetic basis for this response in maize and Arabidopsis! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

After a mere blink in the cosmos -3 years as a preprint- our paper has found its home in @NatureComms . Thanks to all coauthors, the long supporting journey @Dinnenylab, and collaborators @JonikasLab and Michael Sussman. Oh, and by the way, I'm job hunting!!!

Preprint Alert!! We took a systems biology approach to establish #Chlamy as a simplified system to study osmotic stress pathways and identified conserved pathways across the green lineage, uncovering a new role for actin during osmotic stress acclimation, thread

Diffusing protein binders to intrinsically disordered proteins - Finetune RFdiffusion to accept secondary structure specifications along with sequence input. Add partially masked secondary structure and "block adjacency" information. - Input Target protein sequence (optionally secondary structure specification) for initial design generation, use ProteinMPNN for sequences - Evaluate, Filter and Refine designes with AF2 and FastRelax - Optimize desings with two-sided partial diffusion of both target and binder to adapt their conformations simultaneously Preprint: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
