After 5.5 years and selling my startup to @tryramp, I wrapped up my time last month.
I first joined Ramp as employee #20 in March 2020 where I was an early designer and product lead. I left 2.5 years in to found Venue, a procurement automation company that Sequoia backed and Ramp acquired a year later.
With the Venue team, we led Ramp’s procurement product from inception to thousands of customers and billions in payment volume. And most recently over the summer, I joined our Applied AI team to help start @RampLabs and launch Agent Fill and Ramp Sheets.
I’m grateful to have been a part of the Ramp journey. I saw what exceptional looks like and how that’s evolved from a 20-person startup to a $32B company.
Many people mention eng velocity as the key to Ramp’s success but it all starts with the people. Eric & Karim are world class recruiters and frequently take bets on early talent. Hiring well is one of the greatest compounders in company building - nearly all of Ramp’s early hires were referrals. Even at its scale today, I’m amazed at how much time they prioritize on recruiting.
Thank you @eglyman @karimatiyeh for taking a bet on me twice, @genejaelee for being my Korean older brother, and @geoffintech @diegozaks for their product & design masterclass.
As for what’s next, I’m excited to share more soon.

“hey I’m the head of design” - the only designer at a 50-person company

hey, wanna be a founding designer at my startup? we have no taste but we keep hearing ux/design is the biggest differentiator in the ai slop era. btw we're going to give you less equity than the next ten engineers we hire tho. i promise, we're going to be so design-driven, you will love it here. we're also not going to hire another designer until we have like thirty engineers. pls join, we have no idea how to interview designers.

@UberEats feature request: next time I accidentally order food from right downstairs can you ask if I want to go pick up the order myself instead 😅

as my time on exec comes to a close, i wanted to express my gratitude towards everyone i've met, no matter how big or small of a role they've played in my journey. however, i especially wanted to pay my thanks and acknowledge the following people:
- @arushi_arora & @mehaaraja for being the bestest friends i could ever ask for. no matter if its studying, laughing or doing cute girl nights, you guys have been my ride or dies throughout the past two years
- @0xdyan & @curiousgurnoor for leading the club when i was a b@by
- @timg51237 and @brendy for leading my b@by semesters internal edu. the thing i looked forward to the most every week was coming and learning from you guys
- @10a_app for being one of my first friends in the club. i miss our talks walking to osmosis together and studying for cs70.
- @meganhho for being the best head of external and now president a girl could ask for. i miss making charcuterie boards with you for our vc event and seeing all the crazy external events you organized last semester.
- @Ridddhiiii for being the biggest source of inspiration for not only me, but the whole club. you've shown me just how special of a place b@b can be and your determination and passion has left a huge impact in mine and many others hearts ❤️
- @sanjayamirthraj & @eztramble for being the best dynamic duo ever. excited for next semester 👀
- my brother, @0xAlec for initially kickstarting my exploration in the space and for being my role model in life.
- @createdbymason @elsonliuzq @npckellyzeng for being my OG department babies. i'll miss you guys so much, and one of the most fulfilling parts of being on exec has been seeing the three of you grow and mature. i'm so excited to see the things you guys will accomplish.
- @cuipatrick and my big @jess for being my pillars of comfort from when i initially joined b@b to now, when they've both been graduated for about a year. i'll never forget the memories we've made together, the raves we've traveled to and the nights you guys have stayed up listening to my problems and giving me advice. you guys are truly the best friends i could've ever asked for and i am forever grateful we've met and continue to stay close. i love you guys. my time in b@b wouldn't have been the same without the both of you.
- @tomdotfun, who has always pursued me to find my passions and helped me discover myself when i was feeling the most lost.
- @anyoneelse that i didn't mention, so many people have played a huge role in my time here at berkeley and at @CalBlockchain, and although i could go on and on, i love and appreciate each and every one of you!

as the last semester of my junior year begins to wrap up, i wanted to take some time before i begin my gap semester in the fall to reflect on my time in @CalBlockchain— including some of the memories i've made, the friends i've met and the person that i've become along the way :)
