Went to the @Mantle_Official x @CalBlockchain event yesterday and it got me thinking about what makes a successful chain.
Each major chain tends to establish a clear identity through its strengths:
Ethereum is the largest due to its large base of established protocols.
Solana is known for high tps and an active memecoin scene.
Chains that simply aim for higher tps without a specific use case are proven to fail. 100k tps is pointless if that cap is never going to be reached. Clear role in the ecosystem = long-lasting network effects over time.
Mantle positioned itself differently; with a CeDeFi structure, we are seeing CEX liquidity that can be routed into on-chain protocols, vice versa.
This shows up in:
1. Native assets like mETH and fBTC for yield
2. Borrowing against Mantle Index Four Fund for liquidity (140m)
3. Deep liquidity in treasury (2.5b)
The key question is what would Mantle do to leverage its current edge of Bybit's support and develop that into a more vibrant ecosystem.
