Amidst the justified concern at the folly of wasting a list vote on the SNP, a concern I have had from the outset with d’Hondt is that someone whose name you have never heard before and whom you know nothing whatever about can become an MSP. They are in no sense elected- they are appointees from the political parties. It’s lunacy.

Politics is largely about image over substance, not only was Linden a massively concerning predator (as reported by multiple individuals to a protective party hierarchy), but surely someone would/should have had an intervention on that outfit.

The Green Party is fielding candidates in only 6 constituency seats. But it hopes to get list seats across Scotland.
This is a disgraceful abuse of the utterly flawed a Holyrood system.
To be eligible for list seats, a party should contest at least half of the constituencies.

Unfortunately Holyrood has again not acted in line with the vast majority of this country. People want a compassionate choice for those who are terminally ill, and now there is none.
