This whole Grant Horvat controversy got me thinking… Would you rather: Be a 10 year PGA Tour pro? Or Be the top golf YouTuber for 10 years? Be Grant Horvat or Keith Mitchell? The 70th ranked golfer does very well, likely making $35M over the decade with endorsements. It’s likely guys like Grant make MORE than that. Good Good Golf recently got a $45M investment from private equity, that only happens if the revenue is huge. Plus Grant doesn’t have to grind pro-ams and stress about making cuts. He doesn’t have to stress about whether he keeps his card next year. I have a feeling the older folks would rather be the Tour player. Younger folks would rather be the YouTuber. I choose Tour player. The thrill of the competition has to be incredible.

@cup2025 @laz_versalles @troyklongerbo It's not my club, I'm just there to have fun. So I don't know their ins-and-outs. My guess is they are trying this out to see if it sticks, and if it's a pain, they'll go back to the old system.

Just saw this genius idea for a member-guest I'm playing in next week. They're putting the last six champions in their own flight. So, if they're all sandbagging SOBs, then they can knock each other around, leaving 1, maybe 2, to get to the shootout.

@laz_versalles @RyanBallengee @troyklongerbo If the last six winners are sandbagged the committee is to blame. Our committee will literally change a handicap or the tee of a player after the 1st round if it seems suspect.

Should the USGA give Sergio a special exemption? Sergio Garcia has made a plea for a special exemption into the US Open. He’s played in an amazing 25 straight! An incredible accomplishment. History says he won’t get one. If you look at past special exemptions, they go to US Open winners and multiple major winners. Sergio isn’t either. However, Datagolf has Sergio ranked as the 69th best golfer in the world. He’s played well. No doubt he would make the field better. Most will likely say he made his bed when he went to LIV and now he gets to sleep in it. As Don Draper would say, “That’s what the money was for!” I have no empathy for him, he made a business decision. But as a golf fan, I say let him play in one more.
