One of my favourite adverts is a life insurance advert where a guy is in a garden centre and a woman comes up to him like “oh hi [generic man’s name]” and he’s like “oh hi [generic woman’s name] how are you?” and she’s like “just back from a funeral actually”

@inner_moppet Of all the awards kids get this one makes me the most mad! Last year my friends daughter got 2 notes from school 1 said keep your kids home if they are sick or have Covid like symptoms the other had the kids attendance record and explained why regular attendance was important

All that to say, yes, good attendance is a positive, but it’s possible to reward that w/out leaving other kids out for something they have no control over.

Ugh, I remember this from when I was a kid. My immune system sucked and I got sick a lot and perfect attendance kids got a pizza party during lunch. I often felt at fault for getting sick, like I was faking it. I had teachers through HS who insinuated/outright said it, too.
