As the blue check overlord continues to wreak havoc, I think we just keep up with the keeping up, which, for me, involves staying in connection with my people, aka why I’ve been here for 13+ years. So, here’s my linktree: linktr.ee/inner_moppet Follow, so i can follow back💙

BREAKING: White House statement on anti-Israel protests at Columbia University: “While every American has the right to peaceful protect, calls for violence and physical intimidation targeting Jewish students and the Jewish community are blatantly Antisemitic, unconscionable, and dangerous – they have absolutely no place on any college campus, or anywhere in the United States of America. And echoing the rhetoric of terrorist organizations, especially in the wake of the worst massacre committed against the Jewish people since the Holocaust, is despicable. We condemn these statements in the strongest terms.” -Andrew Bates, White House Deputy Press Secretary

And the White House is absolutely right to say so. It’s ridiculous to watch blatant antisemitism be waved away as necessary for “legitimate protest.” It is not legitimate. It is hateful, and it must be rejected by every reasonable adult.

The reason why you don't hear this is because most people get information mediated through media, which sanitizes what are clear calls for violence as "pro-Palestinian advocacy." As if you can't advocate for Palestinians without calling for Jews to die.
AG@AGHamilton29

If you actually listen to what those at Columbia are chanting, you would realize there are Charlottesville-style rallies happening constantly. It’s pure hate and support for terrorism. It’s our fault for letting these institutions get corrupted and Americans better wake up to it.

I have problems with organizers naming an event after October 7 and calling for 1000 more October 7ths, but the problem is with the hateful politics, not with people practicing Islam. Answering antisemitism with islamophobia helps no one.

There is no “internal sunscreen”. It is applied to the skin’s surface because it acts like a SCREEN. It SCREENS out the UVA/UVB rays that damage the DNA of the skin. Your body tries to repair some of the damage but eventually the mutations accumulate and can lead to skin cancer.
Yashar Ali 🐘@yashar

This made me incandescent with rage. Kristin Cavallari has millions of followers across multiple platforms. She has a skincare line; she's obviously beautiful. These three factors lend her some credibility to certain people, and using that influence to spread dangerous misinformation is unacceptable. The YouTube video of this interview has many comments thanking her for the information—people stating that they're sharing her interview with others. Horrible. This man, Dr. Ryan Monahan, is not a medical doctor, much less a medical dermatologist. His bio says he received his “master's and Doctoral degrees in Eastern Medicine at Emperor's College in Santa Monica.” Ryan laments that people have spent most of their time in the sun for centuries until the past 100 years. Ryan, lots of things have changed thanks to science. People also used to have a life expectancy of 30 years old. The consensus is unequivocal: wearing sunscreen with a high SPF on all exposed areas daily, regardless of the weather and how much time you spend outdoors, is the best way to protect your skin. This does not mean wearing sunscreen should give you a false sense of confidence; protecting your skin from unnecessary exposure is still important. Wearing sunscreen daily will also improve the quality and evenness of your skin. To cover some of the insane misinformation in this video clip: The notion that you can "train" your skin to tolerate more sun by gradually increasing exposure is false and minimizes the dangers of UV exposure. There's no safe way to build a "base coat" to protect from UV radiation. The idea undermines the real risks of chronic sun exposure, including skin cancer. Study after study over many years also shows that even with sunscreen, your body can still synthesize enough vitamin D. Coconut oil will not protect you from the sun; what is this, the 80s?! Suggesting that antioxidants like astaxanthin can replace sunscreen is scientifically unfounded and dangerous. And those sunspots they talk about? Sunspots are a euphemism for damage from the sun! Something you would have *less* of if you wore sunscreen! @KristinCav @DrRyanMonahan

The responses from men to this woman really highlight the state of men. Just undone over a man they don't know being lightly ridiculed for lecturing her on something she's clearly familiar with. And if they'll become this aggressive online, imagine how they treat women offline.

Please Watch With Sound On… A woman is grabbed by the Islamic Republic of Iran's so-called morality police and shoved into the back of one of their notorious vans. Jemele Hill

Respectfully, there have been 32 trans athletes who have competed at the NCAA level, ever. Most have been trans men. None in women’s basketball. 1 in WNBA history. Meanwhile, under-funding, under-resourcing, under-promoting, under-marketing, and utter disregard for women’s sports has been a persistent, decades-long problem. I wish you and others would use that same energy you have in attacking the trans community to pressure decision makers to do better in supporting women’s sports. Money, resources and commitment is what make women’s sports thrive — and the lack thereof is what will truly make women’s sports disappear.
Andrea Tantaros@AndreaTantaros

This is a good piece, @jemelehill. But money is the least of the problems we face if females can’t compete in our own athletic fields. While we celebrate @CaitlinClark22 & @Reese10Angel, in the pressing “what’s next?” that you posit, the answer is that women’s sports are being deleted. We’re being disrupted, subjugated and erased by biological men. Again. Still. There is slow creep from a corner of the country that is simultaneously betraying females and our achievements, while ensuring that eventually they will be no more. It’s been only 52 years since women earned this right under Title XI - instituted by Pres. Nixon. This isn’t a partisan issue. It’s a women’s rights issue. Only women uniting from all races & affiliations can protect what’s ours… the progress, the wins, the economic opportunity, the honor, the shattering of stereotypes, the educational value of scholarships… and preserve it for future generations of girls. Men aren’t going to do it for us. If we don’t, the questions you raise in your column will most assuredly be moot. The ‘gatekeepers’ will no longer exist because there will be no gate left to keep.
