@ShivamVahia In a city struggling with choking air quality, every pedal helps. And symbol of poverty? Nah. That Zomato rider is hustling – maybe for your next order. So instead of just focusing on ‘what’s annoying,’ maybe it’s time to think of what’s actually sustainable and fair.

CYCLES ARE A BLOODY NUISANCE IN MUMBAI. There I said it. A stupid concept that's borderline a human right violation in this heat and humidity. Ride it for fitness or whatever, but don't expect city commuters to give you special place anywhere. - Try taking a cycle inside a local train. Both the rider and the cycle will be kicked out due to lack of space and convenience. - Same logic applies to Metro. Line 1 doesn't allow it, nor should Line 3. Set a precedent from now to ensure no future tussle. Line 2 & 7 should remove those parking racks permanently and ban cycles. - Cycles pay zero tax, but have the audacity to demand special "bike lanes" in an already congested city. Either the pedestrians end up losing space, or the roads suffer. Not to forget the nuisance cycles create on the roads for vehicles. Globally the cyclists are hated for hogging motorized spaces. Your safety is our responsibility while you aren't even legally obligated to wear a helmet. - Cycles work in cities like Amsterdam. Mumbai is no Amsterdam. We're too far from it. We can't just import any idea from them and expect it to work (like weed cafes or public drinking). - Mumbai needs 10x Metro. 100x buses. Maybe even a 2-5x car congestion fee. But one thing it doesn't need is that stupid cycle. Hell, even those little EVs that don't need a registration plate are annoying and hazardous. Lastly, as a developing country, cycles are a symbol of poverty. A Zomato dude using a cycle to deliver your meal in 35 degree heat should be a criminal offence. It's not funny. Our petrol bikes have 80kmpl+ efficiency, they offer basic dignity to an average Indian, the so romanticized gig worker. Get this shitty idea of a "Cycling Mumbai" out of your heads, it's an insult to our growing and prospering economy.
