Just concluded my first PHP/laravel project at @codecampusng
As someone coming from the MERN stack, Laravel really makes things easy for development.

On an ordinary day in 2013, nothing at GitHub felt unusual.
No alerts were firing, no outages creeping in, no sense that anything was about to go wrong.
Engineers were doing what they always did: building, testing, shipping.
Quiet progress.
Somewhere inside that calm, an engineer was working on a small task.
It wasn’t ambitious or risky.
Just a routine job: send an email to a subset of users. Maybe inactive accounts, maybe a notification test.
The kind of thing that rarely gets a second thought.

I studied computer science but started my career as a UI/UX designer.
I knew nothing about infrastructure. Nothing about servers. Nothing about networks.
During my service year, I was posted to a non-IT environment. No lab. No colleagues to learn from. No resources.
But there was WiFi.
So every day, I watched videos. Studied on my own. Built skills nobody asked me to build.
Two months before my service ended, I got invited to interview for an IT support role.
I had no experience. No certifications. No practical background in IT.
But the self-development I did on that WiFi connection got me through the interview.
I got the job.
Password resets. Printer jams. Basic troubleshooting. I started at the very bottom.
I just refused to stay there.
Today I manage production infrastructure that businesses depend on. Proxmox clusters. VMware environments. Monitoring stacks. Automation pipelines.
From UI/UX designer → IT support → Infrastructure Engineer.
Nobody fast-tracked me. No mentor handed me opportunities. No connections.
Just WiFi, stubbornness, and a decision to never stop learning.
If you're at the starting point right now — that's all it is. A starting point.
You don't need permission to grow.

Still in Bauchi State.
Finally as part of my itinerary in Bauchi state on Thursday 23rd, 2026, after meeting with the state Governor,
Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, visiting Madarasatu Intisharul Islam Qismu Tahfizul, Qur'an, Yelwa, Malikiya College of Nursing Sciences, Bauchi, I also visited Thomas Moore School of Health, Sciences and Technology, Bauchi.
I had visited the institution in the past and donated 10 million naira, which, according to management, contributed immensely to modernising their laboratories.
During my visit, I donated an additional 10 million naira to support scholarships.
Health is No 1 critical for development and we must invest in the human infrastructure needed for that development.
A new Nigeria is POssible. -PO
