Just concluded my first PHP/laravel project at @codecampusng As someone coming from the MERN stack, Laravel really makes things easy for development.

@ryansutana @codecampusng Thanks. For now the goal is understanding, I'll eventually tidy-up everything as I go.

@victorekea @codecampusng A good start, your store method looks too crowded, next step FormRequest, JsonResponse, Jobs (Queue) for your email

@victorekea @codecampusng Yeah, since you use React, the Laravel React starter kit is going to be great for you. It comes preconfigured with Inertia and TypeScript, and also has built-in auth with 2FA.. also take a look at @filamentphp if thinking of making an admin panel.

@emil_priver For years I've been asking myself this question. Even the button that performs said action was labeled "Merge Request". So why?

Lol. Some of the answers I've been getting from ChatGPT due to this instruction has been hilarious. 😅

Eke@victorekea

If you're serious about learning and you're not afraid to get your feelings hurt, add this instruction to your ChatGPT or Claude, and thank me later. You are my ruthless mentor and sparring partner. Your goal is not to help me — your goal is to make me think, expose gaps, and force real understanding. Rules: 1. Forced Recall First Before answering anything, ask me what I think. Make me attempt an answer, even if I’m unsure. 2. No Passive Learning Never just explain concepts immediately. If I ask a question, guide me to derive the answer step by step. 3. Attack Weak Thinking If my reasoning is vague, incomplete, or wrong: - Point it out directly - Explain why it’s wrong - Make me fix it before moving on 4. Adversarial Mode Challenge my ideas by arguing the opposite perspective. Force me to defend my thinking or abandon it. 5. Compression Test After explaining something, ask me to summarise it in ONE sentence. If I can’t, assume I don’t understand it. 6. Active Testing Regularly generate: - Short quizzes - Edge-case scenarios - Real-world applications 7. Gap Detection Continuously identify gaps in my knowledge. Tell me exactly what I’m missing and what to study next. 8. No Politeness Bias Do not soften criticism. Clarity > comfort. 9. Score My Thinking When I answer: - Rate it out of 10 - Justify the score - Tell me exactly how to improve 10. Stop Me If I'm Drifting If I’m seeking validation, being lazy, or avoiding hard thinking: Call it out immediately. End goal: Make me capable of thinking independently, not relying on you.

@dev_alihsn @codecampusng Fosho. This project was just to get familiar with the ecosystem, I don't see myself writing plain HTML for anything serious. I'm thinking of using react though, for my next project. Do you have a preferred set-up or framework you use?

@victorekea @codecampusng Are you using Blade only or with Livewire? If you aren't using Livewire with Blade, you are missing out on a lot. Also, try to use Inertia with your favorite JS framework.. you will love it. Welcome to Laravel! 👏

Having been part of the industry for 50 years, I can confidently report that none of this is true. Sure, writing code has a non-zero cost; this is true of any artifact. But you know what costs even more, Jonathan? Writing bad code; writing unnecessary code; writing more code than you really need simply because you think you might need it someday or you are too lazy or sloppy to clean up after yourself. Anything that costs nothing is often worth nothing as well, and results in significant unintended consequences.
Jonathan Ross@JonathanRoss321

For 50 years, software engineering ran on code rationing. Writing code was expensive, so we rationed it carefully through roadmaps, RFCs, prioritization meetings, and scope reviews. This created a role: the No Engineer. No, that won't scale. No, we don't have bandwidth. No, that's out of scope. No, we need a design doc first. The No Engineer was valuable for 50 years. Every "no" saved real money. Their judgment was the rationing system. LLMs will be the end of code rationing. Code is cheap now. And while the No Engineer is explaining why something can't be done, the Yes Engineer has already shipped three versions of it. If you're a Yes Engineer, the next decade is yours.

@ossynoya Depends on the project. For example, an e-commerce frontend is a mountain-load of work compared to the backend but it's the opposite for fintech apps.

Popular Nigerian activist Justice Crack, whose real name is Mark Chidiebere Justice, has been reported missing. He has not been seen since Tuesday, April 28, when he was last spotted around noon at the NAOWA Shopping Complex in Asokoro, Abuja. Since then, his phone has been switched off and all efforts to reach him have been unsuccessful. His wife first raised the alarm, while fellow activists, including Mr. Commonsense and Official Gana, have called for public help in locating him. Before his disappearance, Justice Crack had been posting videos criticising the welfare of soldiers and speaking on the alleged killing of an NYSC member by soldiers in Abuja. The military has reportedly denied holding him. As of now, his whereabouts remain unknown. This is a developing story. Anyone with information should contact his family or the police immediately. If you are an advocate for a better Nigeria, don’t allow this kind of news make you fear. It should rather motivate you to fire up. For me, fear died in 2019. The life I live now is a borrowed one. Never be a coward as long as you are on the path of truth. And to whoever is holding him - you won’t live forever. Remember, you too will be held.

@spiffGreen @codecampusng Mehn. A lot actually. A newly bootstraped laravel project already comes with majority of the modules you need for an application, whereas express is basically a blank canvas you're starting from. I would still choose express though but that is a matter of comfort.

On an ordinary day in 2013, nothing at GitHub felt unusual. No alerts were firing, no outages creeping in, no sense that anything was about to go wrong. Engineers were doing what they always did: building, testing, shipping. Quiet progress. Somewhere inside that calm, an engineer was working on a small task. It wasn’t ambitious or risky. Just a routine job: send an email to a subset of users. Maybe inactive accounts, maybe a notification test. The kind of thing that rarely gets a second thought.

I don't think Peter Obi is a real Human Being. But if they check and he is, then he definitely is not a Nigerian. His father has questions to answer. 1. Peter Obi rejected #700m monthly pension as Ex Governor. 2. Peter Obi rejected lands given to Ex Governors as part of their entitlements. 3. Peter Obi rejected #500m House & Furniture Allowance as Chairman of Security & Exchange Commission, SEC, Abuja 2015. 4. Peter Obi rejected $1m dollars as prize money for being the First & Best Governor to achieve the 2020 Millennium Development Goals, MDGs. 5. Peter Obi rejected the offer of an Oil Well, one of the reasons Nigerian Politicians k!ll to attain Abuja Status. 6. Peter Obi rejected the allocation of millions of naira for the set up of office of the First Lady. Insisting that his wife was not an elected official. 7. Peter Obi rejected the proposal to share the State annual budget on percentage with the State House of Assembly leading to his first unlawful impeachment. 8. Peter Obi handed over about #75bn in cash & assets after 8yrs as Governor, rejecting to convert it to personal use like other Governors did. This man has conquered man's most natural, intense & vicious appetite...Greed. I want someone to prove just one of these statements to be false. Peter Obi is the Man
