Ok, I'm apparently not good at writing parables, because nearly everyone interpreted it wrong. I used a parable because I want to respect others' service records, especially when not all the facts are out yet. So let's pivot to a much more direct analogy. In 2016, career intelligence professionals, people who had genuinely spent their lives fighting America's enemies, became convinced that a foreign power had compromised the incoming president. They had data points. Real ones. Trump had business dealings in Moscow. He said nice things about Putin on camera. People in his orbit had meetings with Russian nationals. A dossier appeared with salacious claims. Each data point individually was... a data point. But they were looking for Russia. So they found Russia. Everywhere. They were so certain they were right that they leaked to the press. They used classification authority to spy on American citizens. They presented unverified opposition research to a FISA court as intelligence. Peter Strzok texted about "insurance policies." Andrew McCabe authorized leaks. They were experienced professionals who genuinely believed the republic was in danger. Their service records were real. Their concern was sincere. And they were wrong.

It’s always been the illegal drug dealers that have caused this. I understand your position but a little compassion goes a long way.

@d24592002 @Audraanncrystal @VinoNStrosGal Our wholesaler and the DEA check the ratio of narcotics to regular drugs. So if we filled only narcotics, our ratio would increase then DEA would put a lock and chain on your door. No joke. I’ve seen them do it

Pharmacists today aren’t just filling prescriptions anymore. They’ve been turned into gatekeepers, sometimes even “bouncers,” of pain medication. And look, I understand they have a responsibility to verify safety. But from what I’ve experienced and what many others have experienced, isn’t professionalism. It’s interrogation. It’s defensiveness. It’s being treated like you did something wrong… for bringing in a prescription written by a licensed physician. There’s a difference between: “I have concerns, let’s go over this together” and immediately assuming the worst and escalating the situation. You can refuse to fill a prescription. But how you treat people in that moment matters just as much. Curious, what have your experiences been like at pharmacies lately?

Let’s imagine a 30-day experiment. Over 50–60 million Americans are living with chronic pain. In 2025 alone, there were still well over 100 million opioid prescriptions written in this country, many for legitimate, documented conditions. Now imagine something radical. For just 30 days, the pressure disappears. No fear-driven policies. No forced tapers. No treating compliant chronic pain patients like criminals. Doctors are allowed to treat. Pharmacists are allowed to fill. Patients are allowed to stabilize… WITHOUT FEAR. Just… medicine. What happens? People sleep again. Pain levels drop from unbearable to manageable. Emergency room visits decrease. Withdrawal disappears from the equation. But zoom out. People go back to work. Productivity rises. Families stabilize. Divorce rates tied to chronic stress and illness begin to ease. Parents show up for their kids again. Memories get made instead of missed. You want to talk about “the bottom line?” That is the bottom line. Now layer in reality. The U.S. lost over 1 million people to COVID. Millions more didn’t die, but didn’t come back the same either. Young adults with new heart issues. People with chronic fatigue, POTS, autoimmune complications. Previously healthy bodies now permanently altered. We didn’t just lose lives. We lost capacity. And yet we still cling to this illusion: “If you eat right, exercise, and do everything correctly… you’ll be fine.” COVID shattered that. Disability is not a moral failure. It’s not a lack of discipline. It’s not something you can always outrun. So here’s the question: Why does it feel like the disabled and chronic pain community are treated like we’re holding the country back… when stabilizing us would actually move the country forward? Run the experiment. Give compliant chronic pain patients 30 days of proper, uninterrupted care. No fear. No games. No stigma. Just treatment. Then measure it. Workforce participation. Hospital utilization. Mental health. Family stability. You might find something inconvenient. That compassion isn’t weakness. That proper pain control isn’t the problem. That the people you’ve sidelined… were never the burden.

@DrSuneelDhand I have been prescribed gabapentin for spinal cord neuropathy. Didn’t work stopped it. Baclofen for the spasms. Didn’t work stopped it. I now take nothing but vitamins and my intrathecal medication and it doesn’t help because the dose is tiny and then tiny bit more in 4 mths. Why?

I’m a physician, and I would literally do anything to avoid being on a prescription drug. My nightmare is to have to show up at the pharmacy every month and pick up drugs. Absolute last resort only. Will exhaust every other possibility before that happens.

Sounds like you’re trying to recruit people to your pharmacy. Do all meds here or we won’t give you your legally prescribed narcotics.

@Audraanncrystal @VinoNStrosGal Can’t speak for everyone but I look at if you have other non controlled rxs that we fill. Sometimes people will get their maintenance meds mail order and want us to just fill narcotics. Can’t do that. Also my wholesaler has a quota. So a lot of times we don’t have in stock.
