@macheteada Idk about latin music but for jazz it wasnt entirely synthetic. They spread music that was already well-liked and cutting edge as a way to get Africans more amenable to the US.

The most understated loser moment for the American left is probably the CIO and the Communist Party supporting the no-strike pledge during WWII while wildcat workers continued to push actual proletarian independence, civil rights reforms, and even internationalist organization
