[Update] In a further briefing to the committee, Gen Ukrit Boontanon, Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, said the planned Joint Capabilities Command (JCC) would be established with an 893-million-baht development budget without increasing personnel, as more than 100 positions would be reassigned from existing units.
He said the command would oversee cyber operations, electromagnetic warfare, autonomous systems, air defence and space operations, while developing joint operational plans and standards across the armed services.
Gen Ukrit said the JCC would address long-standing coordination problems, as each service currently procures equipment independently. The new command would standardise procurement and doctrine, including for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and counter-drone systems, to ensure interoperability under a network-centric operational framework. He added that personnel costs were expected to fall by more than 400,000 baht annually despite the creation of the new unit.

Committee delays decision on revoking 3,621 local officials over exam fraud The Central Local Government Examination Committee (Kor Sor Thor) on Friday delayed a decision on whether to revoke the appointments of 3,621 local officials implicated in the recruitment exam fraud scandal. The group is part of 5,814 appointments found to have irregular examination scores, while authorities plan to recount about 800,000 answer sheets from more than 400,000 candidates before issuing a new ranking. Before leaving for China on Thursday, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said Kor Sor Thor has the legal authority to revoke the appointments without his approval, adding that the Interior Ministry had completed its fact-finding and forwarded the evidence to the committee. However, before Friday's meeting, Kor Sor Thor chairman Wanchai Chanphorn declined to confirm whether the committee has the authority to revoke the appointments, saying the issue would be decided by the panel. He also acknowledged concerns that any decision could be challenged in the Administrative Court. Separately, Prachachat Party leader Pol Col Tawee Sodsong criticised the handling of the case, saying it was like "the suspects becoming the investigators". He said the original examination scores held by the university and local authorities remained unchanged, but the Kor Sor Thor-approved results included 5,814 candidates who had failed or scored below the passing mark and were nevertheless appointed as local officials. Tawee said Kor Sor Thor is legally responsible for conducting the recruitment process, including approving and publishing the examination results, and that its 19 members should be among the first investigated if the allegations are confirmed. A Government House source said the Cabinet, at its latest meeting, approved a further review of Thailand’s visa-exemption measures and various visa privileges, along with five draft Interior Ministry announcements.
The National Security Council (NSC), in comments submitted for consideration, expressed concern that foreign criminal groups might exploit the measures to carry out activities in Thailand for purposes other than those intended.
Addressing the concern, NSC Secretary-General Chatchai Bangchuad submitted a letter to the Cabinet for consideration, stating that the council supported the further review of Thailand’s visa-exemption measures and various visa privileges, as proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the five draft Interior Ministry announcements.

The court has denied bail to Win Thanaphatcharaphokin and Police Senior Sergeant Major Pichit Thangphrom ("Dr Pichit"), two suspects in an alleged civil service examination fraud network, citing the seriousness of the case and the risk of flight.
