@BTungle25194 Indulged in my very first “legal” alcoholic beverage on this very street in early ‘04. It was mid-morning and my choice was a Midori Splice. The gentleman serving me asked me “what kind of hour” it was to be consuming a Midori Splice with a wry smile. Sad to see these days lost.

@ZeitvilleMedia This is the key. Most are giving up & accepting the current subpar detritus that falls at their feet is all there is. But, there are options available, for those who have courage to make choices outside the conventional. This is where I find myself at present — am I brave enough?

@ZeitvilleMedia The choice component is interesting, right now. It’s like making any kind of choice at all is better than the stagnation from ceasing to make one. Sure there may be errors, but that’s part of life & living it. People seem more afraid of experimentation, of “failure,” than ever.

It’s all within One’s grasp.

Shanghai, Tokyo, Vancouver… I’ve probably mentioned that technically I’m not an aviation enthusiast, but I’ve always been quite taken with airports and everything around them. I had the good fortune to travel a lot on assignment while based in Hong Kong and Shanghai but funnily enough I probably made more “airport” pictures while not working. While racing to get out of town on a news assignment it perhaps felt a bit frivolous to pause and photograph a waitress at the airport bar, or linger by a window with a tarmac view. So, it was mostly in the down times, or while otherwise travelling without any urgency, that I could spend unhurried time in or around a particular airport. One of the most intriguing reactions when one embarks on such a voyage is the incredulous nature of everyone you tell. “How can you do that?” “Oh, I wish I could do something like that?” You can, you should — in fact, there’s nothing stopping you contrary to what you’re told.

Many of you shouldn’t fetishise or pine for the “stability” “certainty” that the boomer experienced. It would have been an enfeebling life, a curse, for most of you on here. Embrace the uncertainty of the current age - it’s a gift. Only in the unknown is potential.
