Every once in a while, I think about the plot twist in Arrival (2016). It just sweeps you off your feet and recontextualizes the entire story you thought you've been watching. I don't think Denis Villeneuve will ever top it.

this looks equally new and refurbished at the same time. the cast and the camerawork and color grading is all a delightful addition, but the sets and backdrops just look so similar to the original that it’s disjointing

it’s so incredible to me how visionary the animation team for Into the Spiderverse was. Like they truly changed the game for western animated films. We’re seeing colors and textured animation used in ways that becomes subtext in its own regard. Life is worth living.

never forget that this movie was finished & they had to scrap the 3rd act bc MJ’s estate forgot THEY were also not allowed to depict anything from the child sexual abuse cases as a term of their settlement… so they had to rewrite and (rumor has it) make it a 2 part film 💀
