@AfricaKenyah Do you still have the discord for the group? I signed up for the newsletter, but never heard back to join the discord. I started using your study repo and had a few questions about the body of knowledge since it was updated after your study guides were created.

@BrainAblaze Trying to say that epilepsy isn't a big deal and I need to "get over it". Sorry, but I need a friend that supports me and not belittles my struggles.
English

If you've had to break a friendship because they didn't support your adaptation to #Epilepsy (or seizures), what was the last straw that forced you to make the final decision? #EpilepsyAwareness

@jamesqquick I would make sure all of the colors on light mode are accessible before looking into dark mode. I worked somewhere where we had both. We were told to remove dark mode since users didn't use it. Maybe because the colors were not accessible. 🤣 They didn't want to fix it though
English

Serious question. What are the accessibility implications with not having dark mode?
Is it harder for people with color blindness to consume? Something else?
luna@ImLunaHey
how about let’s not paywall accessibility. come on theo…
English

@jamesqquick Accessibility! Everyone should have equal access. If an app doesn't, they are not just discriminating against people with disabilities but losing out on revenue.
English

@t_a_w That is fine, but they listed the role as JS and React. Why would I apply and do a coding challenge in a language I don't know. It is a waste of time.
English

@SommerChase No. Backend was .net frontend listed JS with React and Typescript. I would not have gone to an interview unprepared. I asked why they don't use the language in their own stack. They said it was easier to test in python.
English

@dacey_nolan But did the job description say python? Not trying to be a dick.
If not, then yeah it’s weird for sure.
English

@_justelias The company didn't use Python. They used React + JS on the frontend. On the backend they used .Net. My problem is they are interviewing for a language that is NOT in their tech stack.
English

@_taymii which is why I am not a full-stack engineer. I would rather be a frontend engineer.
English

@oogie_fletzet I am. But when the job positing says they use JavaScript and .net, I don't expect the coding challenge to be in Python. Also this was a FE role. Building a database and backend is NOT frontend. Also they wanted react, typescript and accessibility.

@AmeriGas Yeah, I spoke to customer support 5 different days. They could not help me. I even spoke to the VP of customer experience and he couldn't help deliver my propane. Apparently, there is only one drive that services 4 counties and he took off work.
English

I paid for the 24-hour emergency propane delivery with @AmeriGas. 4 days later, we still don't have propane. We have since run out. They refuse to refund me and they have no idea when they will have it delivered. No ice or snow in our town. What's their excuse?
English

@lindakatcodes But many companies give referral bonuses to the employee if one of their referrals was hired, so many may think that referring someone to a role is a risk they are willing to make if they can get a bonus out of it in the end.
English

@lindakatcodes When I was applying for a role, I asked people on LinkedIn (people I never met) if we could connect and have a coffee chat. I wanted to learn about life at the company. Many offered to give a referral though I never asked for one.
English

@lindakatcodes Again referrals are very personal. Someone is putting their name on the line to refer someone to a role. I had a bad experience referring a friend to a job. It takes a lot of trust to do that to someone they don't know.
English

@lindakatcodes Many companies have referral links. That means each employee has a unique link they can send people to apply. If you apply via one of those links, it shows that you are a referral candidate.
English

@lindakatcodes @honzikec @MaartenBicknese Typically if they are asking for a referral, they are meaning that it needs to come from someone at the company. They want an existing employee to refer you to the position. Typically a reference is done outside of that company and can be written by anyone.
English

@honzikec @MaartenBicknese Possibly. I don't have a good system for keeping track of people I think of as "in my network" & where they work. So if I wanna know if I know someone working for the new company or they know someone who does & would be willing to send my info along - how do I ask that?
English

@Chewy I am on chat with support and they can't unlock the account. I have already started shopping at another store.
English

@dacey_nolan Hi there. We're very sorry to hear about your experience, and we'd like to help. Please send us a direct message, so we can further assist as we are unable to send one your way due to your privacy settings.
English

When @Chewy's customer service locks your cart making it impossible for you to add more items or checkout. I was hoping to buy dog toys and treats. I guess I'll take my business elsewhere. Customer service told me they couldn't unlock my cart
