The session Governing the Capital: ICT Governance Reforms addressed the need for clearer mandates and stronger metropolitan coordination. Moderated by @dadamkhan, Governance Consultant, UNDP, the panel featured @DrTariqFazal, Federal Minister, Parliamentary Affairs, Zafarullah Khan of Jurisconsults; Jawed Ali Khan of @UNHABITAT; @umerijazgilani, Advocate Supreme Court; and @AnitaUsama, Project Manager Reforms and Innovation #UNDPinPakistan, emphasizing legal reform, urban planning and institutional coherence for a more responsive Islamabad Capital Territory.

For perspective: The army is now able to try civilians in military courts because they did not like the person the vast population of this country elected as prime minister. Leaders of BYC and PTM are in indefinite custody as TLP brutalizes our streets. Please reconsider.

They will be silenced, they will go missing, they will be killed. And mainstream Pakistan will go about their lives as usual.

Tomorrow peace may be restored, but peace for whom? The war against our own people will continue. They would have stood behind the idea of a nation-state, only for it to turn against them again.

Meanwhile, the lack of introspection on the Indian side has been astounding. We know what Modi’s India is like, that the media is rabid and Bollywood is spineless — but where is the left? We may have expected capitulation from them, but I don’t think anyone expected co-optation.

It is important to not just remember this, but frame every conversation within it, and place Kashmiri voices and aspirations at the centre of it. History did not start on April 22nd, just as it didn’t start on October 7th.

It is understandably difficult to focus on larger contexts at a time like this, but also more important than ever to understand why we are here. A brief reminder:

India has gone completely rogue. It has escalated the conflict by attacking cities across Pakistan, including Islamabad, Pindi, & Lahore. It's increasingly clear that Hindutva ideology poses an existential threat to the region. Pakistan reserves the right to protect its people.

I know this isn't the right time to say it but I will say it anyways - Remember when American drones were targeting innocent people in FATA & people in the major cities looked away from it or even justified them because tribals to them were automatically terrorists?

Every single person who has been brought in hooded into ATC Islamabad is Pashtun. Their hearings were conducted in less than 30 seconds. This is racial profiling which will rip this country apart.

Disappearance of senior journalist Matiullah Jan is highly condemnable & matter of deep concern. The government's campaign to muzzle the media & critical voices is simply shameful. If something happens to Matiullah, PM will be held responsible.

A rogue state cannibalising its own people to hold on to a fragile sense of power. #ReleaseMatiullahJan
