@tomisin_ms I think anyone can resort to violence if push comes to shove. Fight or flight is primal instinct so it doesn't need to be taught. Restraint is harder so I would focus on that. Children should be taught escalation channels and conflict resolution. Adults ought to handle bullies.

If I had a daughter, this would be my position as well.
My sons can't be married low-key either. Their weddings will be reasonable, tasteful and expensive, by God's grace.

This sounds cool and favorable for us men. It is also cheaper for us to get married, until the table turns. I do not know about others, but you cannot marry my daughter like that. If I had a sister, you would not marry her that way either. Even if you do not want to do a wedding, you must do a proper traditional marriage in our compound. A DJ will play music and the whole community will know that my daughter or sister is getting married. You can do it on a low budget. My family can even support in our own way to make it meet our standards, but it must be done. Coming to pay bride price one evening with just a few of your friends and kinsmen is never enough. Once you have done that proper traditional marriage ceremony for her, if you choose not to do a white wedding or anything else, it is none of my business. No daughter of mine will be married low key.
