@dakroot @Brumairian Makes sense. Half black half El Salvadoran is the exact description of the father of the young man I'm mentoring. He's in prison. You sound like a very grounded woman. To break a deal because of misaligned futures is amazingly principled. I applaud you.
English

@SuzanneWalsh72 I don't mind difficult people. Like, at all. But once their pain is directed at me, I can't tolerate it. I'm the best person ever to sit with and look at your pain with you.
English

@dakroot Yep. It used to really hurt me that I couldn't please people. Then I realised that I was hurt about people that didn't care anyway. One can never be fulfilled by trying so hard to please others. Like you say, it's either an easy relationship, or not.
English

@GreatWhiteHun9 @Brumairian Separated in 2012, divorced in 2014. I used the word "husband" to describe someone I was seeing because I was getting so many unwanted messages/comments. Half black/half El Salvadoran and we had an incredible bond, but misalignment about the future was a deal breaker.
English

@dakroot @Brumairian You're very philosophical. You don't like LGBT. In 2022 " my husband is black." 2024 12 years ago i divorced. Did you get remarried or did I read it all wrong?
English

@SuzanneWalsh72 The older I get the more I value alignment. No fighting, no coaxing, no bullying. Either we believe the same things and act accordingly, or we don't.
English

@dakroot Once you realise it's not your duty to be liked, it's easy to walk away from people that think you don't deserve to be.
English

@GreatWhiteHun9 @Brumairian My problem has been targeting. I've written hundreds of thousands of words on this platform and they don't do their research. Gotta know your audience.
English

@dakroot @Brumairian It amazes me how stupid some guys are. Just be kind and gracious and ask the woman right out in the open if she would be interested in talking.
English

@dakroot @Brumairian But Krooooooot, I have other nerds to impress & jocks to try to get in better graces with. You really gonna deny me the "we met at summer camp, you wouldn't know her, she goes to a different school" experience?
English

@Brumairian Exactly. Lot of married dudes, too. So the whole thing is a form of entertainment.
English

@dakroot Right?! Like if they live nearby and you can meet that's one thing but holy fuck don't court online for six months and then meet up somewhere praying it'll work that's madness
English

@dakroot This is what you believe. I hope you care that I like you Kroot Toot!
English

@machination3e It's not an easy decision. Mostly because life will get very, um, sparse.
English

@dakroot I just shook off the last vestige of that struggle.
It was long and slow, one by one. Each deserving depth and effort.
Whatever remains today for me, is now what is "true".
English

Ideas have their own unique personalities. This is why creative people, especially writers, can appear profoundly mentally ill and “all over the place.”
If only you understood that the artist is the willing vessel bringing these personalities to life, maybe you’d cut them some slack.
A little encouragement is nice too.
English

@scoutingdad2022 I don't get people who take the squirming, doubling-down route. Say you messed up. People are quite forgiving, but like you said, they might also avoid you.
English

@dakroot Same when you own your mistakes. Owning up to a mistake instead of hiding from it takes it's power away. Not to say you wont have consequences, but it will no longer hang over you like the blade of the guillotine.
English

@dakroot "We split the atom. We broke the fabric of reality. That’s how far we’ve come. Now, the lights of our cities stretch further than the stars in the sky. But the more perfect society gets, the more psychotic we become. And as it waited, we became slaves to the systems we built."
English

I truly believe some people were not made for modern, domesticated life. It's not "mental illness" or depression or anxiety or ADHD or whatever. Their misery comes from having the wrong disposition for life in a zoo.
These people thrive best in natural systems, where there's danger, uncertainty and lack that requires creativity, skill and strength.
Their wiring would have been formidable before the machine age. Now it's considered something to be drugged away.
The "loneliness epidemic" makes perfect sense through this lens, as well. The brutality of nature has been responsible for human bonds and cooperation since the beginning of time.
English

@dakroot Very well said. I think that this zoo has an ever increasing sense of claustrophobia as well. Very rural areas are much the same, but otherwise they are disappearing all the patches of woods, building homes a few feet from one another, cameras everywhere.. It taxes the mind.
English

In the long run, yes.
Small crimes may transpire in between.
If you have constructed your morality properly, you don't need to worry about your politics.
You wont have to "debate" the idea of trans kids.
You won't get suckered in to supporting modern racism.
You won't think selling out the working class to global corps who want mass migration is "good for the economy".
You don't need to study politics if you'be done the work on being moral. The rest just flows and there is no confusion.
kroot@dakroot
When you live by principle, not perception, you will become damn near impossible to manipulate.
English

@Chris2Rue I don't know about you, but if I were a demon, I'd jump on the internet and try to convince someone my opinion was the path to salvation.
English

Well, I’m baptized and confirmed in the Catholic church.
So you can take your nonsense and shove it up your well used bottom.

@MrEmilyGDawn You’re not one of God’s children. You could be, but it would require a sacrifice you’re not willing to make.
