@jeffr0 Honestly I think even with TinyMCE we were moving in this direction -- remember Shortcode Editor Views? It's just a distinction of everything being built around it, versus individual opt-ins. I think it's a positive step forward, but you'll never get 100% buy-in on any change.

Difficult to determine if WordPress would be in the place it's in today had it stuck with TinyMCE as its primary editor. I think blocks have opened up a whole new world of possibilities that TinyMCE would not have allowed. Hindsight is something else lol.

Alpaca Issue Tracker has spawned a personal side project! I'm building a collaborative task manager, packaged as a WordPress theme, presenting as a single-page React app (PWA), optionally backed by an interactive bot on Telegram. Currently testing it with my poor family.

@ciorici Eh, if you're deploying to .org svn from github, your tooling should be able to generate zips on each deploy tagged to a github release that folks can download from in a pinch, but I take your point if that's the case. I thought the announcement just said autoupdates.

One of the best things about WordPress.org was being able to ship a fix or a new feature and tell users: "it's live, please update and let me know if that solves it." With the new 24-hour delay for plugin and theme updates, that feedback loop is gone. A bug gets fixed today, but users may not receive the update until tomorrow. It feels like a change designed to address a very small number of bad actors, while the vast majority of plugin and theme developers lose something that made the ecosystem work so well. First, we lost useful plugin growth data that developers relied on to understand whether their products were improving or declining. Now updates are delayed too. What's next?

@austinginder @rudrastyh Honestly, having it be available for public review by default for 24h before sites could potentially autoupdate to it feels like a no-brainer to me. If someone finds an issue and reports it, it'll save a lot of folks.

@rudrastyh Not completely sure what's in place but I do know they're playing around with AI assisted flagging. I'm doing the same for my own customers, scanning for code vulnerabilities. I just sent you over a sample of what my reports look like. 100% AI driven.

How does it actually work guys? Do they manually review it, or simply use some AI tools for that? And this 24h delay is permanent for all plugins, right? Also, all the plugin's code is getting re-reviewed? Or only the changes.
