@chicfryrice My guy, residencies are brutal af, they don't their social life/dating life to suffer as well. It's bad enough in rural areas. Spouses of doctors want to leave the most because they are not able to make friends in rural towns or single doctors can't find suitable friends/dates

@dalxa_m This is just not true. There are plenty of lies “Americans don’t want to go into primary care.” “Foreigners are smarter.” No…America purposefully has too few medical schools then we employ foreign doctors.

Plenty of Americans want to be doctors. Our medical schools require 4.0 GPAs and 528 MCAT to get in and those with a 3.5 science GPA don’t get in. This is drastically different than the medical school requirements 30 years ago. American taxpayers pay for resident salaries at hospitals through Medicare. And 30% of resident spots (which are extremely limited) go to non Americans who went to schools that are easier to get into than American medical schools. I don’t understand how people think this is fair or normal

@trajektoriePL They have to change the current liability laws because if AI makes a erroneous result, the entire hospital gets shutdown by malpractice lawyers instead of just radiologists getting sued/fired

CEO of America’s largest public hospital system says he’s ready to replace radiologists with AI. Mitchell H. Katz, MD, the president and CEO of New York City’s public hospital system, has stated that he is prepared to begin replacing radiologists with artificial intelligence for certain diagnostic tasks as soon as the regulatory environment permits. Speaking at a recent panel, Katz highlighted the potential for AI to serve as the "first reader" for routine screenings such as mammograms and X-rays, which would allow hospitals to realize significant financial savings amid the rising costs of human specialists. In this scenario, radiologists would transition into a secondary role, only reviewing images that the technology identifies as abnormal. Other healthcare leaders supported this vision, citing data that suggests AI can be more accurate than humans in specific low-risk screenings. However, this proposal has met with intense opposition from medical professionals who argue that such a shift would pose a severe threat to patient safety. Radiologists have criticized hospital administrators for being "confidently uninformed," claiming that current AI technology is not yet capable of providing independent patient care without human oversight.

@SilkDiffSlipper @BradWilcoxIFS Country clubs are where local power is concentrated and politicians host fundraisers to white collar jobs above more than blue collar. You should give a damn because social capital is what gives you security and networking opportunities. This is cope

"As the # of tradesmen retiring [increases], # of young people entering those occupations [fails] to keep pace. Today, for every 5 tradesmen who leave workforce, only 2 younger workers replace them." Consequently: "nearly 1.4 million trade jobs will be unfilled by 2030." @NRO

@TGP144 @BradWilcoxIFS That’s why young white men are falling behind while Asians and African young men are going to college and gaining social capital by working in these careers. Cope to the end of times

No smart young men will choose this. Tradesman don’t have social capital in America. Every local country club where the average local politician comes for a fundraiser consists of doctors, lawyers, finance, salesman, and business owners
Brad Wilcox@BradWilcoxIFS

What many young men don't know is that "many skilled workers can earn “in excess of $200,000 per year on hourly wage and overtime alone,” in addition to generous travel and per diem allowances." -- "particularly [for] high-paying occupations include pipeline welding, elevator construction in major metropolitan areas, and data center electrical work."

When you have the average voter blame the President of the United States, which started with Obama (mainly), for their economic problems such as gas prices and cost of living, they are willing to elect an Imperial Presidency. Checks and Balances/Federalism died with the voters
Gregg Nunziata@greggnunziata

The president has done a remarkable amount of damage to the Constitutional order in a time of peace and prosperity, imagine what an aspiring autocrat could do in a time of genuine crisis. The times call for a generational effort to Caesar proof the Republic.

@MaryBowdenMD Lower- class white people can't cope with the reality that the majority of American Med Students, who are white and upper middle class/wealthy don't want to live in their bumfuck small town and would rather recoup their lost time to live in a major city or suburbs attached to it

@edzitron OpenAI is getting ready to IPO and the Wall Street Suits said that AI video generation is unsustainable. They can't profit from video gen without government subsidies. Bytedance and other AI companies in China that do video generation get some subsidies. China won the Video race

Unless I'm misreading this, it appears OpenAI will be killing off *all* video models, including the ones available via the API?

@DaveShapi Does anyone not wanna mention that white collar workers AI displacement especially the men will lead to radicalization against the AI tech class? America for 40 years taught that going to college and securing a high paying job means u made it. It’s going to lead a violent future
