@DannyHolg @AlexAgrellaRB That’s fair about football (coming from a state that doesn’t have thanksgiving football) I love the tradition. So did the playoffs start after the thanksgiving game? Cause now teams playing in the super bowl have their thanksgiving game the week before.

@dan_marra @AlexAgrellaRB Thanksgiving football isn’t what it was. Many times, league championships were decided that day. The current playoff format have turned them into merely exhibition matches. Your Iowa idea is a fantastic one. Dont tell that to spring coaches and admin who wont allow it.

I’m not talking in circles. If anything, I’ve had to clarify things I never said. I’ve never suggested leaving the MIAA. I’ve been clear about that. This is about reorganizing the playoff structure using models that already exist in other states. I’ve put together 50+ pages of data and facts, not opinions. I’ve also been actively reaching out to administrators to sit down and go through this, because I’m not interested in just posting on X. I want to try and make a real impact. This is a researched, fact-based approach. The reality is, change hasn’t happened because no one has seriously pushed it. And just because people say it won’t happen doesn’t mean it can’t. Public schools are public schools. Private schools are private schools. That is not a debate.

@DannyHolg @AlexAgrellaRB Why get rid of thanksgiving!? Moving to mass it’s one of the best traditions of the football season. For the spring. Northeast should do what Iowa does. Has baseball/softball start a month later basically having a late spring/summer season.

@AlexAgrellaRB It’s John that wants to talk in circles. It’s the same closed mindset that doesn’t want to entertain getting rid of Thanksgiving Day games OR pushing winter/spring seasons out an extra week. WE CANT AND WONT DO IT. It’s called change John. It’s ok to bring it up!

@newftbj I don’t necessarily agree with all of Alex’s points but like you said, your solution will never happen. The Catholics are not leaving the miaa. So then what? We watch SJP/xavierian and CM win every d1 and d2 Super Bowl? I think having a catholic playoff at least has a chance.

First off. Hat tip to Alex for the work he put into doing this. It is great that we are having the conversation. However, we have been having it for years and nothing has changed or is going to change. The only fix is to separate Public, Catholic and Private schools completely. The NEPSAC is separate but the Catholic Schools will never leave the MIAA, nor will the MIAA ask them to leave. I am not advocating for them to leave but if we’re going to “fix” the issue, that is really the only solution. We are really the only region in the country that has this dynamic. The rest of the country doesn’t have elite boarding schools and the number of Catholic Schools that we have. Public schools are caught in a vice. And I wholeheartedly disagree with Alex on the recruiting piece. NEPSAC schools need to recruit to operate and they target public schools. That hurts public school programs. Same with the Catholic Schools. They need to recruit kids to exist. How they recruit is a whole other conversation. This is all about Public Schools being at a disadvantage. You can take the Catholic Schools out of the MIAA and it will help in terms of winning championships but the bigger issue will remain. Talent distribution. The recruiting issue will still be a problem. One that won’t be fixed because ultimately, we live in a free country and parents and athletes can attend whatever schools they want. Believe me. Public Schools need to be better too. Some of them aren’t exactly enticing athletes to want to stay either. Bottom line. The system isn’t broken. It never existed.

As you guys know, I don’t like talking “best.” But I’ll give you my favorite: The Myopia Hunt Club, a half-hour north of Boston, is an ancient charmer by Herbert Leeds that hosted 4 early U.S. Opens in much the same form as it exists today. There are so many great clubs and courses in New England - Eastward Ho, Ekwanok, Essex County, Kittansett, Brookline, Newport, Old Sandwich, Boston Golf, Yale, Fairfield and many more brilliant gems come to mind - but if I had one round to play anywhere I want on a crisp September day, I’m making my way to Myopia.

@NYPost_Berman I did not say they have won a title. I did not even say they are a winning team. I just said they’ve come away from that trade as winners (5 1sts, a swap and quasi-starter Ziaire Williams). If the Knicks get to a final with Bridges, they’ll be winners, too.

@NYGDaily Nah - I’d say more like 07 than 11. That 2007 team came out of nowhere. In 11 they may have only won 9 games but had a brutal schedule and you knew they could play against anyone in the league.
