For years I have taught that since we spend more time reading code than writing code it is better to focus on making code readable than to focus on rushing the writing. Countless examples have shown that the latter rapidly compromises the productivity of the teams that practice it. Lately, however, the question has been posed to me that the true revolution of AI coding may be the inversion of that principle. Color me skeptical, but willing to listen. Is the secret of hyper productivity really to be found in the effective management of context windows?

I'm keeping two Claude windows open. One making changes to the source code. The other helping me to plan future changes. This uses my time better since I spend a lot less time waiting for Claude to finish. The two Claudes are in two different directories, both have git repos of the project. The planning directory has rules that prevent source code changes. Only planning is allowed. I manually pull and push changes between the two.

We often treat Kubernetes like a paradigm shift. In reality, it’s a solution to very specific problems at very specific scales. Engineering isn’t about picking what feels advanced — it’s about picking what fits the moment, the team, and the problem.

We keep feeding our problems into Kubernetes as if it were a new paradigm. Kubernetes solves Google-scale problems. Most companies don’t have Google-scale traffic, teams, or constraints. Picking infra that feels powerful but doesn’t solve the problem is not engineering.

@mischavdburg In fact it’s so standard that we discuss now the downsides of this coming some sort of new paradigm in which we fit the problems instead of thinking how to solve them.

The Kubernetes market is projected to grow 600% and people are still asking if it's worth learning. Some of you just want to stay poor.

@yourclouddude Hahah good point, but knowing it’s a wire serves to make the concept of network tangible, because a wire is needed to connect the computers, from that everything started to make sense to me

Nobody explains Computer Networking like this… 🌐 • Internet = networks talking to networks • IP address = your device’s identity • DNS = internet’s phonebook • TCP vs UDP = reliability vs speed • Router = traffic controller • Firewall = security gate • Latency = distance + delay Networking isn’t memorization. It’s understanding how data moves. ↻ Repost if networking finally makes sense

You’re not safe because “engineers will always be needed”. You’re safe because: •you define the questions •you design the abstractions •you reduce chaos into language •you make large systems legible AI doesn’t replace people who decide what matters. It replaces people who wait to be told.

@TheGeorgePu Making it last with reasonable growth numbers, ltv and relevant takes more than hype: it’s a never ending conversation.

That founder you admire? Check their actual revenue. Check who actually built the product. Check if the business still exists. Half of them are surviving on course sales about the company that failed. Be careful who you learn from.

My feed is becoming a loop of the same tech takes. I need a reset. If you’re actually building something right now, big or small, drop a screenshot and let us know what it does! Always interesting to see people come up with!
