The JSON RPC isn't currently one of STEEL's responsibilities: steel.ethereum.foundation/home/main/ Personally I think it'd make sense for us to maintain these tests & help clients debug fails as for EVM consensus tests.

Agree to all of this, that's why I said it needs multiple orders of magnitude more effort - and clearly it can't be on client dev teams to set this up. We need to get to a point where 1. teams (like HOPR) can just PR a (somewhat) reproducible test case (like my favorite eth_getLogs issue) 2. Hive team decides if the test is reasonable (this will get VERY resource intensive), if yes: merge and include in future test runs 3. Client team gets alerted of failing tests, ideally fixes them rapidly, ship new version, all good 4. Client and Hive teams can discuss and clarify what is actually expected (or not) 5. In case of dispute, Hive team can escalate non-compliance, eventually client team funding can get slashed (I don't want to sound like an absolute bitch again but I do believe in such absolutely last resort incentive alignment setups!)

Why are Ethereum client teams not required to ramp up their efforts on even the most basic Hive test compliance? This looks really bad for @HyperledgerBesu, @ErigonEth, @nethermind, @ethnimbus, @paradigm's Reth (and good job @go_ethereum!)

@hanni_abu @leolarav @ChodoKamil @marcin_d_s Wrt to specs & testing, many EF Teams such as Prototyping, zkEVM, Security and @StatelessEth collab w/us & add test cases. While EL client devs may not become regular contributors to tests, we will do more to encourage knowledge sharing to nail edge cases & gain coverage faster..

@hanni_abu So EELS and EEST were to some extent inspired by the consensus-layer specs. On the CL side, it's a more collaborative effort with many CL client teams actively contributing test cases to the repo. But we do have a STEEL team member that also contributes there @leolarav 🙌

@danceratopz I was gonna ask if there's a version of STEEL for the consensus layer but I guess that's just the protocol security and protocol consensus teams
