Took way longer than I thought (2 years) but we finally did it!!! Learn the basics of game development using JavaScript while building a breakout clone with the ability to add custom levels using pixel art!
Jake Klassen@bitknight

@danfletcherdev we're finally live 🎉 We've created a course to guide you through creating breakout from scratch using JavaScript. It's our first, be gentle 🙏 #gamedev udemy.com/course/javascr…

At the Currents New Media festival in Santa Fe, this kid played my cow game 4 times and his parents had to drag him away I think I found my #1 biggest fan

Working on my cow udder game. Making a physical controller that is a rubber cow udder you squeeze to a Rhythm Heaven Fever inspired rhythm game. Decided to make a countertop mini cow that acts as an espresso machine. Was thinking of having the screen under the udder. (1/2)

@danfletcherdev I did a lot when I was younger, 14 to 24 maybe. We have a little new skate place in town, and I really want to give a try sometime.

@christophrumpel Oh didn't know you used to too! That's awesome 🤙 I've been scared about my ankles too 😳 For the last few months since I started skating again I've been doing a lot of mobility exercises to try and avoid injury (as much as possible)

@hatch2k3 Thanks! It really is a workout lol I can't believe I used to use these things for getting around town My goal is to get more into mini ramps and bowls because it's a lot easier on the joints than doing street

What skills do you work on outside of being a developer? Right now I'm working on the skill of painting parking lots with my shins (some call this skateboarding 🛹)

@jeffrey_way I haven't gotten into too much yet myself but have you looked into Nix? Not sure if it does exactly what you're trying to achieve but it might get you close nixos.org Another thought is aliasing brew et el to a bash script that uses rsync or ssh That or Docker 😜

So is there any workflow in place for perfectly syncing up two computers? I want them to be clones of each other. If I install something through Brew on one machine, it should be on the other machine, too.

@christophrumpel And for a grand room like that I don't think the design is usually considering long hours of tv watching It's more of a background thing if you have it at all. If your house is large enough for a room like that chances are you have a seperate space for watching movies

@christophrumpel In my last house (Canada) we did this because the fireplace made it so there was no other option But also in a grand room like that you're potentially watching TV from the kitchen or dining area which makes the height more natural

Why do homes, especially in the US (I believe) put the TV up that high? I see that in every series 🤷‍♂️ You always have to look up when you sit on the sofa. I don't get it.

@DThompsonDev Haha jokes aside there are legitimate case studies where this is "better" I think it was Turbo Tax that ran into issues with customers complaining that they didn't trust that their taxes could be filed so quickly They had to purposely add a loader to simulate "work"

Wait, so you are saying you want to purposefully slow your website down & give the user a bad experience just so you can show them a loading spinner you made for 4 seconds? Do I understand this correctly? 😐😐 😢
