@karomancer I think I was just overloaded. It wasn’t all bad. Family comes first and I can’t sacrifice that to keep up full time.

Well resigning is always sad but it went about as well as I could have hoped with positive things said from all sides. Going forward if I continue to work in tech it will be: - part time (2/3 days) - mostly or fully remote

@imPenny2x Unless they greatly downgrade Opus' quality (which honestly they might), I'd be happy to keep paying my monthly sub for Opus. I've found it very helpful. Probably just has to do with your workflow.

Fable is a great model, but I think Anthropic is doomed. I already cancelled my subscription in anticipation of Fable going pay per use. I have zero use for Opus with Grok and Sol around. I guess I’ll just pay for the megabrain on a per call basis when I need it but I can’t imagine that type of business model will sustain them. This could be a major speed bump in their data flywheel.

@karomancer @Aella_Girl I was sitting here reading that like it was some kind of attempt to gain access to cnc machines. Thinking ‘yeah, I know guys who are a little “too into” their 5 axis’. I sure was wrong.

me and a bunch of slutty ladies have a group chat where if any guy tells us he's into cnc, we alert the group chat so all the ladies know they might wanna go try to have sex with him. this is kinda bad though, because we're all coordinating to get guys with a specific fetish laid and i don't wanna make guys feel like they *have* to have that fetish to get laid. I think other ladies who into more normal sex should have similar group chats to also incentivize guys who like regular stuff to balance us out.

@life_lightofmen @CharlieCashMony History works in cycles. I'm sure we'll see more moments of coalescing and reestablishing soon enough. That said I also feel like each state and even regions in each state are very different from each other. Culture always evolves over time. The only constant is change.

Legal immigration numbers are crushing as well as illegal immigration. I don’t blame the immigrants coming legally so much as the government for letting this many people in at once. This happened before with legal migration in the early 1900s, cities, states, and citizens were overwhelmed and begged the federal government to slow immigration which led to the immigration act of 1920 and 1924. The USA only allowed 100,000-150,000 immigrants a year from 1920-1965. They also prioritized immigrants who were similar to the Americans who were already here. And it gave Americans a chance to coalesce into a much more harmonious group. I want that to happen again. End worker visas. Lower immigration quotas. Prioritize only immigrants who will love America and will assimilate.

California has approximately 39 million residents. Roughly 18–19 million of them are immigrants and their children—about 47–49% of California. Roughly 1 out of every 2 children under 18 in California is a child of an immigrant. When are Americans allowed to be upset that it is not our country anymore, it’s being given away to foreigners who— see it as an economic zone, a welfare state to be exploited, or a land to be conquered. And this is bad for people who love their country and have nowhere else to go.

@JasonTezos That's amazing! I hope it continues to evolve as you grow together 💚 I felt that way with my ex partner but we started to grow apart and no longer were in sync. Sometimes that happens too.

My wife and I have different native languages, but I communicate with her better than I’ve ever communicated with anyone. Good communication happens naturally when people share the same energy. We communicate on a frequency that only partially involves language. I hope everyone finds a person who understands them the way that my wife understands me.

I'm meeting more and more people whose job is to create insane booth experiences for companies to attract press and potential customers at conferences like CES. How did I not know this was a job until now? Is it time for me to try to break into that market?

I hate to admit how much I like Autodesk Fusion 360's AI assistant... Really great for questions about models and fixing small geometry issues, especially ones that are very monotonous/repetitive or memory intensive.

@pfitch45 Well if I figure out how to get clients like that, I'll definitely let you know! Would you be able to figure it out from CA to other places?

@WarrenLNaida @genesimmons Yeah that security bots do take photos. Technically I believe they can tase you, too. I was on a 1:1 coffee walk back in 2018 and we saw a homeless guy kick one in it's blind spot at a gas station. I don't think he was able to do any damage though

@karomancer @genesimmons They should be protected. Someone hits them, and their photo is uploaded to the nearest precinct. Also banned from ordering food. 🤔

@genesimmons As for dining, I've been to a few restaurants with those robots. It's an ok experience. You know what waitress-less experience is best though? Food delivery by rollercoaster in Europapark in Germany.

@genesimmons Between the security robots getting knocked over and hit with baseball bats and food delivery robots getting kicked into the street and food stolen from them, I'm curious what future non-automotive robots on wheels will be like
