Hm the problem with my idea of doing a podcast through X Spaces...is that most of the cool people I want to chat with don't use X 🤣 Time to Zoom it up...or maybe even do video. Video is so much more work though!

@gitpush_gitpaid True. My plan was to download them and host them on Substack, but yeah the audio quality is highly compressed. But again, it's just whatever little audience I have is at so try to levy what you have, you know?

@karomancer spaces is terrible for this because of the lack of being able to find archives of previous chats/videos i don't know though, maybe there is a place on here to retrieve these things but from what i know there isn't

@TChapman500 @TiffanyFong Nearly every culture at some point had some form of pornography. Hell, cave men probably drew sexual acts on walls with sticks. The Kama Sutra was written in the 2nd–3rd century. Ancient cultures ranging from Egyptian to Chinese all had forms of porn.

@TChapman500 @TiffanyFong We're one of the only species on earth that enjoys sex, so it's something many humans look forward to and fantasize. We also create art. We can appreciate beauty in the nude form. It's natural that we create nude art, and some go further and create art of sexual acts.

@DanielW_Kiwi @CodeMonkey420 Yep. I have two potential podcast guests I'm excited about, but neither of them use X or want to so now I gotta figure out what to use... I'm all ears for suggestions! I liked the interactive nature of X though and I have an audience here. I have like 80 followers on Twitch, etc

@TiffanyFong Here's an interesting fact about Japan: It didn't have any porn until after World War II, when America forced prudery onto its culture.

@CodeMonkey420 TBH most awesome people I know are pretty successful and don't ever use X. They're too busy actually running their business/making art/doing research to futz around with whatever bullshit is happening on here or any social media really lol

@gregrthenson Well that's within one company though! But good question; I meant repos for completely different clients but hey at one company can feel that way; could all be in diff. languages and do completely different things

@karomancer I'm not freelance but I'm the still the only dev for the company that used to employ 9. 5+ repositories

@BobTells You know, I used to work at Microsoft...and I have no idea what that is hahaha There were always so many teams there making products I didn't know about!

@karomancer No secrets. Working with MS Power Platform stuff.. so preset controls/layouts/etc But basically a one stop show to see all the live apps, documentation, code behind them, power automate failures, bug reports, etc.

@BobTells oh hell yeah I think in the age of agentic coding, retainers are the way. I'm finding hourly doesn't make as much sense anymore (plus, you don't want your payment to be tied to your labor...that's a surefire way to just make ends meet and not save a lot in my experience!)

@karomancer My last company paid a guy like me way too much and he did nothing like this. Taught him a few tricks as I got canned, but I'm already way beyond that. So hoping I can find someone that puts me on retainer for x hours/month.

TIL that "zsh", as in Z Shell and .zshrc, is named after Zhong Shao, a Yale professor whose login username was "zsh". THe creator, Paul Falstad, was a student of his and named it after him. Never even thought about what the Z stood for until today 😅
