@outofunion Take your pick Ken, she’s either guilty of involvement or turning a blind eye to the theft of donors money OR guilty of gross misconduct as the leader of a political party. It’s one or the other she’s not and never will be an innocent party in this as much as she’d like to try

IS IT JUST ME?.. When someone goes to such lengths the hide an embezzlement crime that it took 3 years of specialist police accountancy experts to dismantle and £3m in funding to do it… How the fcuk would any ordinary unsuspecting individual(s) be aware of it?.. Feeding frenzy??

@fatmogs1 @mccready757 I had two female English teachers, don’t know where they stood on feminism or anything political really but they were great teachers. MacBeth, Hamlet, 1984, Lord of The Flies they even made Burns come alive when we did Tam o Shanter. Not sure there are many of that ilk left.

@mccready757 @dangermouse2 I did Macbeth too, bloody loved Shakespeare, freak that I am. We had a fabulous teacher the year before who made it all magical, even TS Eliot. Then, like you, a dumb female teacher made us lose the will to live.

@staylorish @mscott7612 Question is who did sign off on those accounts in 2021 on behalf of the “party officers”, because if it was Beattie he hadn’t half changed his signature from the previous year…

This is a good point, but I wonder whether Sturgeon will try to claim she didn’t know she had briefly become the SNP Treasurer, since it would appear to have happened by default according to Electoral Commission rules.

@PeterAdamSmith @MundayHugh Nicola was in the Treasurers role after Douglas Chapman resigned and before Beattie retook the poisoned chalice

The Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000. To say it was not the role of the "First Minister" to "sign off" the accounts turns out to be staggering misdirection, when it turns out it's the legal duty of the party leader or management committee to approve them.1/2

New statement from lawyer representing Nicola Sturgeon. Aamer Anwar says: “To make it abundantly clear it was not the role of the First Minister to sign off accounts, that was for the party treasurer. “Furthermore, there appears to be an assumption that as FM, when Mr Murrell was busy buying multiple pens or pepper pots etc she was with him, Ms Sturgeon was not, as unsurprisingly she was busy with other matters.”

Fabulous! I've been trying to get arrested for knowing what a woman is for a couple of years now and no luck at all, yet they persecute and harass working class women who need to crowdfund for their defence. I've been discriminated against far too long. Fingers crossed for 2026!

@PeterAdamSmith @freddiemac1 I presume she had no idea her husband who earned around £80k a year loaned the party, that she was leader and had told everyone was in fine financial health, £100k

Now the catalogue of crimes has been published, it reveals astonishing detail after detail about what Peter Murrell was buying with £400k of embezzled money. The man who first filed the police complaint that led to Operation Branchform now wants full refunds and an inquiry.

It’s a valid point. When concerns were raised, SNP did not investigate Peter Murrell. In fact, they aggressively denied money was missing. It took a member of the public contacting police. Even then, Sean Clerkin was publicly mocked by senior figures close to Murrell & Sturgeon.
James Mitchell@ProfJMitchell

Why did it take Sean Clerkin who was miles away from the centre of the SNP while those so close to the leadership hadn't a clue? Just literally incredible.

I have absolutely no trouble believing that he didn’t know how to read a balance sheet, and was clueless about the missing money.

I’m sure there will be many interested in this piece of Scottish history but let’s hope it is saved for the nation and exhibited at the Transport Museum as a warning to future generations
