Damage to a service building at a power and water desalination plant
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Engineer Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat, stated that on the evening of Sunday, March 29, 2026, a service building at one of the power and water desalination plants was subjected to an attack, resulting in the death of one worker (of Indian nationality) and significant material damage to the building.
Technical teams and emergency crews immediately commenced work, according to approved emergency plans, to deal with the consequences of the incident and ensure continued operational efficiency, in full coordination with security authorities and relevant agencies to secure the affected sites.
The Ministry calls for calm and urges the public not to follow rumors, advising them to obtain information from official sources, and confirming continued monitoring of updates with transparency.
It emphasized that the safety and stability of the electricity and water systems represent a top priority, and that all technical teams are working around the clock with high efficiency in anticipation of any emergency and to ensure the continuity of vital services.
