@Game_Dev_Steve I agree that maybe an option to see defeated monsters could be acceptable. I do like that paying attention to where monsters were is also a skill. Maybe the best solution is to allow marking empty cells and add more markers (ie minotaur icon)

Hey @danielben! Very clever use of the gnome to fill unlimited blank spaces as you tuned the game. I had presumed you designed for 4 spawns. I was pretty sure that Gargoyle pairs had some preference to spawn in a non-diagonally connected 4. Guess not! I never noticed the different Gargoyle graphics. It seems like at some point they were meant to offer a clue as to direction of the mated pair. But since gameplay is auto-attack after click on a hidden monster, and the corpse is cleared, you never see this. It gave me the idea for new feature 1 below, which also helps with common advanced gameplay questions like "have I found the egg already?" and "where was the Romeo that I forgot to mark Juliet for?", but most importantly "where was the Centaur I defeated but couldn't afford to clear nearby at the time to search for the chest". These seem like reasonable info / QOL features for the player without damaging the skill cap too much. Advanced players would be playing for time, so the search for forgotten info does have a tax. Though, I'm also not a big fan of memorization rewards, so I might be biased. To my local version, I've added new features: 1. hold right mouse on cell to see the defeated enemy 2. restart button on the victory screen 3. remaining hearts count on victory screen 4. live clock option in lower right 5. I have a fix for the audio delay after sleep, but I can't yet get it to work in .js on some browsers. I'm not a js guy, so I probably won't go down this rabbit hole. I remain super impressed on the game design and balance.

9 hearts leftover ~0:9:55 Anyone claim a 10 heart perfect yet? @danielben I'm pretty sure its possible on some maps, but I'll need to slow down more. Might write a map generator sim to check some probabilities I'm curious about, but I'm not sure I have 100% of the layout rules (and flukes).

Dragonsweeper will now go into maintenance so only bug fixes and maybe a new stamp if there's an amazing idea. It was made in about 6 weeks It was played about 350k times so far It was especially fun to balance it collaboratively with its best players Let's make more games!

@rfleury since they are already in a position where they have more money than they know what to do with, why not try to maximize dev survival while they make mountains of money anyway

@rfleury 30% is outrageous and yes, I know steam is working to not enshittify like everything else and we are all doomed when gabe dies but

If Valve’s 30% transaction fee is so outrageous (it’s not), then others can simply provide alternatives and charge less. If players still don’t want those alternatives, it’s for a reason: the higher prices they see are worthwhile for the various services involved. So, the alternatives need to also compete on quality. That isn’t an “unlawful monopoly”, that is a competitive service provided at an acceptable rate for developers and players alike. A competitor can undercut that price, but they have to actually do a good job providing an alternative. It is completely absurd to involve the government to punish Valve.
