I built a site with 200+ works of Reformed theology, Latin works translated into English for the first time, and a personal library you can search with AI. You shouldn't need a PhD and a research library to read Zanchi. The sources belong to the church. Here's what it does 🧵

@DBryanRhodes I'll never forget the time an Australian family visited our little church plant in Venice because they were staying nearby and we were the only Reformed church in the area. Their example changed my thinking in this area for sure.

Now available to pre-order: The Baptist Standards - Our Catechisms, Confessions, and Creeds. ------ The Baptist Standards brings together the primary confessions and catechisms of the early Reformed Baptist tradition, illustrating how early Baptists understood that they stood firmly within the reformed Christian tradition while still maintaining their doctrinal distinctives. At the center of the collection are the First London Baptist Confession of Faith (1646), the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1677/1689), The Orthodox Catechism (1680), and The Baptist Catechism (1695) complete with their Scripture proofs. Also included are the great ecumenical creeds of the faith—the Apostles’, Nicene, and Athanasian creeds and the Symbol of Chalcedon. A series of appendices further enrich the volume by presenting key historical documents, tracking the development of Baptist theology within the broader Reformed tradition. Each included document is accompanied by a historical introduction from Dr. Thomas J. Nettles, providing necessary context and tracing its theological significance. This collection serves both as a reliable doctrinal reference and a practical teaching tool, preserving the confessional heritage of the Reformed Baptist tradition. PRE-ORDER NOW - Available for only $30, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Founders Press! press.founders.org/shop/the-bapti…

Today my wife and I joined the fellowship of those who have had a miscarriage. We grieve, but not without hope. We commend Nathaniel Paul Rhodes, 11 weeks & 4 days in the womb, to the arms of Jesus. Goodbye, son. One day I'll hear you laugh and sing, in the undying lands.

This week marks 6 years since I got to peach my first sermon. I haven't gone back to look, but it might also mark 3 years since my last sermon. I miss it.

Elvish technology in Tolkien produced the three elven rings, it reflects purposes intrinsic to Middle Earth and develops them. In our world a similar outlook gave us the cathedrals of Europe and technology existing in harmony with human nature. The technology of our time resembles that of Sauron or Saruman. It rejects natural law and thinks of the natural world as an accident and a mechanism to be hacked. It's given us the architecture of modernity, and the desecration of the human form through bioengineering and transhumanism.

Quick podcast and article about the recent CENLA drama that lost a church its meeting venue. Thanks to Pastors Jeff and Bryan for coming to the studio and talking this through today. Was a fun episode. Keep fighting, men. We're building something great! (link in comments)

I'm still disappointed Jeff's original video was controversial for some Christians. This article helps explain why, plus some helpful advice at the end! Louisiana Pastor Says "Jesus, Not Buddhism" in Viral Video — Gets Kicked Out of Church by Christians theparishcircuit.com/louisiana-past…

@RHB_Books Tough to pick one favorite above the rest, but I guess I'd go with Augustine since I've probably spent the most time reading his works.

@ShaunMcKnight Did you not notice this is a programmed talk at a conference, not a sermon in a Lord's Day service? Framing this as "from the pulpit" as if the two are the same function is misleading. Also, no "bashing" was done here.

If your pastor bashes other faiths from the pulpit, rather than elevating his own with inspiring and touching gospel sermons… he is not a pastor, he’s a propagandist. There is a happier, more fulfilling way to worship. 😉

@j_bambrick What was the source of the emotions? Was it the tempo of the music combined with the beauty of the instrumentation and vocals? Or was it the truth contained in the lyrics which the Spirit used to reveal afresh some aspect of the glory of God? That's how I think about these.

Question for my less charismatic friends: Just back from our prayer meeting tonight. We felt to pray over our worship leader on Sunday, and tonight he led one of the most profound worship sessions we’ve had. There was just a tangible sense of the presence of God in such a thick and amazing manner, he was flooded with tears as he led - he’s a rugby player so not in an effeminate way - and we could have worshiped for hours. It was amazing. He was like a whole different guy. I’d call that a fresh anointing. Cheesy term but anointing is certainly a biblical one. Do you guys think in those terms? Do you just view that as emotionalism? Honest thoughts on if you see things like that, do you expect them, how do you rationalise them etc?

@a9h2015 @JoshuaBarzon One small but clear difference is the use of "Yahweh" instead of LORD in the LSB. LSB is also a bit further down the word-for-word spectrum than ESV because of its NASB foundation. I find the ESV a bit more natural language, but that could be because I've read it so much.
