@MikeHapner @jonbrooks Well a repair tech is trades just like HVAC bit value time? That repair took him at most an hour so even if he valued his time at 600an hour he still saved a ton of money the place was charging him 1000 an hour basically

@jonbrooks That’s because you don’t value your time properly, or your time is lower value than those prices. That’s fine. But, there are plenty of people that will just pay for the convenience / speed / know how Also - refrigerator repair isn’t what they mean by “go into the trades”

Everyone keeps saying “go into the trades.” I get it — but here’s my real experience: Called a local company to fix an icemaker on a 2007 fridge that still runs great. Tech shows up. Takes a picture. Can’t fix it. Charges $99 just for showing up. Then quotes me $1,300 to replace the icemaker. So I do what everyone can do now: I ChatGPT the model number. In 2 seconds: • Exact replacement part • Direct phone number • Cost: $300 Installation? 2 screws. 10 minutes. I’ll do it myself. Same thing happened with my pool heater: Repair guy quoted $2,000. I bought the part directly and fixed it myself for under $200. The problem isn’t the trades. It’s that information asymmetry is gone — and some businesses haven’t realized it yet.

$2.13 was 20 years ago. They average $10-$12 per hour. Now they don't pay taxes on their first 25k on gratuities. The price of dining out has doubled in the last 5 years making the annual income of an unskilled waitress around 80k a year. So screw 20%. Earn 15% or settle for 10.

@MW4Liberty Unpopular truth if you need to merge or file bankruptcy 50 times your business model sucks

Unpopular truth: The JetBlue merger was the stable path. Refinancing, reorganization, consolidation, and efficiency at scale beats insolvency every time. Everyone in the Biden camp cried that we couldn't afford to "lose" a low cost carrier. You mean like we just did?! 💁‍♂️😂

@coachdeesmith The odds of someone not playing travel and being on par skill level with everyone else who is are not good. There may be a few outliers but that doesn’t make it not true. Again, I’m talking big schools, not small or private schools.

Spirit Airlines didn't need a "federal bailout." It needed the Biden DoJ to allow its merger with JetBlue But the Biden DoJ, like most dopes on TV, thought: mergers mean bigger and bigger means bad Because they know the optimal size an airline should be

I voted for President Trump three times, and I’d gladly do so again. That said, I have a sincere, question about something I’m genuinely trying to understand. If the U.S. is energy independent, why are gas prices spiking again? They are getting close to the highs we saw under Biden? I know tensions with Iran are playing a role right now, but I thought energy independence was supposed to shield us from these kinds of swings. Can someone explain what’s driving this? I’m not here to criticize Trump, just looking for a clear explanation. Thanks.

@SassySouthBlond @DeAngelisCorey @Hersh61M Where in the world did you get the ridiculous idea that you are entitled to buy a house? Up until Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac most people had to save for about a decade before even being considered for a mortgage loan. Entitlement much?

@wea71000 @jc2024_jc @DeAngelisCorey Underperformers? You mean how NC is the 42nd lowest paid teachers in the country but consistently rank top 30 in education meaning they are actually over performing

It’s one thing to budget for private school and work that into your life and it’s quite another to have a bunch of whiny underperformers walk out on the job and still get paid because they are govt hacks. And before anyone busts my balls over calling teachers underperfomers, just look at student outcomes over the past 10 years. If they worked in the private sector, the company would have gone out of business based on these kinds of results.

@jc2024_jc @DeAngelisCorey Did he say he can't afford a day off? His anger seems to be that he needs to work to get paid while teachers get paid either way.

if it was high fuel costs why didn't it go under when fuel costs were higher 3 years ago? also, doesn't an industry so dependent on fuel take a hedged position on energy futures or options just in case fuel costs spike, as they have done repeatedly for the past 4 decades? it's democrats who fucked this up. it always is.
