A designer without a portfolio site is like an engineer without a GitHub account. What is with all these big tech folks who have decades of professional experience and literally nothing to show?

If you want clear evidence of how far ahead Claude Code / Opus 4.6 is versus Codex / GPT-5.4, try using both on embedded ARM Cortex work. 🤯

@krzyzanowskim Microsoft makes better apps for macOS than Apple in some cases. Compare Windows App to Apple Remote Desktop.

My friend moved to San Francisco to work as a Staff Engineer at OpenAI His salary? $30,000 a month A lot of money right? Well, the reality was different: $12,000 - rent, studio with no windows $7,000 - tip for the landlord $5,000 - subscription to gay sauna $4,000 - rehab after fentanyl addiction $2,000 - Asian prostitutes $1,000 - Tesla lease payment Soon he found himself in immense debt and nearly took his own life Please, think twice before chasing the “American Dream”

People who go into trades tend to have a lot of tenacity, and I think most could apply that discipline to succeed at almost anything. I know another UK electrician doing similar things as Ben, and myself and a couple of friends are happy customers. It’s inspiring.

Imagine sourcing candidates for roles at tech companies or startups now and they have no project page and / or GitHub repo. Instant red flag. 🚩

@henrikberggren Working with a great team (of humans) is hard to beat and I hope that never goes away. But more of us, myself included for a long time, need to stop relying so heavily on others to bring each and every one our own ideas to life.

Probably the most important thing to learn is how to work independently and actually finish things without relying on others. That’s a skill that’s going to matter a lot in an AI-driven future.

You can kinda tell how self-sufficient someone is simply by how many times they ask you things they should be asking an agent. This isLMGTFY all over again.

A clear example is how often people ask me things they’d be better off asking an agent.

This is the most annoying thing in Claude Code. Hiding raw text when you paste more than 4 lines. Terrible UX decision.

Almost everything I consume now is made in a fundamentally different way than it was made a hundred years ago (if it even existed then). Our priors are holding us back.

People who want to shortcut learning will always find a way. I don’t really care how someone gets to a solution if it helps them move forward and solve real problems. And if I don’t like how something was made, I can just choose not to engage with it.

Couldn't agree more. It's just so crazy when you think about how much some people kept in their head for so long. Also, I think a lot about misc feedback I've given people on projects that were mid-flight and how painful it must have been to hear/get while managing everything.

I have so much gratitude to people who wrote extremely complex software character-by-character. It already feels difficult to remember how much effort it really took. Thank you for getting us to this point.
