It is 1030AM EST and they haven't updated their website for today's semis. (Yeah you can figure out what they are but this is typical).

@dstaples @BurtSchoeppe @jeresells This whole conversation started with @jeresells accusing HE of corruption over money sent to the Jr Oilers without any knowledge of the program, how it works and how it’s funded. Thats a problem. Seeking answers to HE issues is fair, but that’s not what the 1st post was about.
English

@BurtSchoeppe @jeresells Given the controversy on the board, is it out of bounds for any concerned citizen to have grave concerns?
As for me, and for most people I suspect, Hockey Edmonton showing and also explaining their budget would be a reasonable response
English

What are the Jr. Oilers and why does $1 million from Edmonton minor hockey go to them? And why are human resources costing more than $500,000 a year?
There may be good answers here. I'd like to hear them.
Jeremy McKain@jeresells
It's absolutely stunning that that much goes to the junior Oilers. This is as corrupt as it comes
English

@22TMarshall @jeresells @ShaneDoolittle #badmath. 3 teams in the program, 20 players per team. Try again.
English

@dankobe87 @jeresells @ShaneDoolittle Hmm, ya I guess that would be 50k a season per player. I mean, that is kinda what top top academy would pay, considering league fees, ice, travel and meals, accoms, tournys etc.. it’s a lot, but not so far out of scope as one might think, really.
English

@parentsAB @CoachCal99 @dstaples This program is also paid for by the parents. Registration fees for Jr Oilers athletes are collected by HE on behalf of the teams.
English

@parentsAB @dstaples Wrong! The cost of the program is funded by the parents who pay team fees to Hockey Edmonton.
English

@craigbutronsmac @dstaples It’s the Jr Oilers which is a minor hockey team, not the Edmonton Oil Kings.
English

@dstaples That’s not a huge expense at all considering that it’s an elite hockey organization that invites prospects from around the world.
David, it’s not 1994.
English

@HansselTheGreat @tburns34 @dstaples The rest of minor hockey is not paying for this program. Hockey Edmonton runs the Jr Oilers, Jr Oilers families pay their team fees to HE and HE transfers the money to each of the Jr Oilers team. It’s that simple.
English

@tburns34 @dstaples The question is why are the rest of Edmonton Minor Hockey have to pay for those 3 teams to compete with academies? Academies have to raise their own money, so should they. The contribution to the community isn't worth it. It's a ridiculous amount of money for what it gives back
English

@jeresells @22TMarshall @ShaneDoolittle Jeremy, the Hockey Edmonton AGM is May 27 according to its website. Perhaps you should go to it and ask your questions to HE brass.
English

@22TMarshall @dankobe87 @ShaneDoolittle Hockey Edmonton has had people step down and no answers have been given. Each team does pay a fee to hockey Edmonton so money does go there from other organizations
English

@jeresells @22TMarshall @ShaneDoolittle @dstaples took the time to ask appropriate questions to understand what he didn’t know. You should do the same instead of jumping to blantenty wrong conclusions.
English

@jeresells @22TMarshall @ShaneDoolittle Your original post did not ask questions about “resignations” and “deficits”, it said “absolutely stunning” how much money “goes to the Jr Oilers” followed by “as corrupt as it comes.” And you said that not really knowing what you were talking about. It’s ok to admit that.
English

@ChairmanDeco @dstaples It’s the individual associations that would pay the refs, not HE.
English

@jeresells @22TMarshall @ShaneDoolittle I would assume “ice recoveries” and “expense recoveries” are things that HE pays for on behalf of all associations (like booking ice) and then charge back to the associations.
English

@22TMarshall @dankobe87 @ShaneDoolittle Dan why is this not shown in the financials then ? Is this what the expense recoveries are ? No one is giving that answer and the deficit in 2024 was brought up to crickets and now 2025 it's in deficit again
English

@jeresells @ShaneDoolittle And while I’m correcting your facts, EVERY player on the Jr Oilers coed teams is from Edmonton. Are you confusing minor hockey with the Edmonton Oil Kings junior team?
English

@ShaneDoolittle This is their financials. I don't understand how so much is going to the junior oilers . This is an Edmonton association paid by Edmonton parents and half of their players are not from Edmonton .
English

@jeresells @22TMarshall @ShaneDoolittle The financials show HE collected $1.08m in hockey registration fees. HE has about 10k players. By your logic, that means HE is collecting $108 per player in hockey registration fees. Does that sound right to you?
English

@dankobe87 @22TMarshall @ShaneDoolittle Dan hockey Edmonton isn't just the junior oilers. What needs to be clarified is what is going in and what's going out. A deficit has been run the last few years .
English

@jeresells Your lack of research skills and penchant for jumping to conclusions should concern your clients, I think.
English

@TeamPortia @TheRealTubesox @jeresells They do pay for it by paying their team fees to HE. If you don’t have a kid on one of the teams, you’re not contributing anything to the program.
English

@TheRealTubesox @jeresells Then they can pay for it. Not the rest of us.
English

@jeresells @THarris1519 @TheRealTubesox The parents of the kids on those three oilers teams likely pay $8000 plus for each kid . 20 kids per team, three teams. Do the math. It’s not corrupt it’s AAA hockey. Expensive. League fees, travel, hotel, tournaments. The parents pay for it all. Not hockey Edmonton
