@Hestia_Esq @PeztyMerc You added the word submit. Nothing in those tweets says the wife has to commit sin if her husband says to. She is saying you can still handle those situations with respect. 1 Peter 3:1-2 talks about winning unbelieving husbands by respectful and pure conduct.

The Bible commands women to submit and respect their husbands. The Sauves tell you that she has to do this regardless of whether he's committing egregious sins like raping, murdering, or asking her to submit to sexual assault The Bible also commands men to love their wives as Christ loves the Church, and to give themselves up for her. But she has to do all these things in order for him to comply with that Biblical command Sorry, it's not consistent, and doesn't make sense.

Fun fact: the only time Sarah is recorded in Scripture as calling Abraham "my lord" was in Genesis 18:12 when she was laughing behind Abraham's back about him being too old and herself too worn out to give her the pleasure of conceiving. Which she then straight up denies doing to Yahweh's face. But He was like "Um no. You for sure laughed." Super respectful of her. Anyway. Make of that what you will.

Let me use this as an example to young men who are growing up thinking they can make a woman happy just by trying to please her. First rule. “The good things you do for a woman only last 24 hours in her memory. The one bad thing you do or say is what she holds onto for a lifetime” Here is a clear example. He said “shush,” and she immediately knew she was going to divorce him. Keep in mind, she had already forgotten all the good things he did in the relationship….the gifts, the romance, the love, the money, the surprises. He was there for her throughout the nine months of pregnancy. Maybe he cooked, cleaned, and did many thoughtful things for her. There were baby showers and support. But guess why she wants to divorce him and why other women are supporting her decision? Because he said “shush” to her during labor. Using that word suddenly means he is wicked, evil, and hates her. All the good things he did have been completely erased. This is how women make decisions. No matter what you do to please them, it takes one small mistake for them to use it against you. That is how emotionally reactive they can be. They can say the most hurtful things to you, but you are not allowed to say anything back.Don’t kill yourself.

@GabrielHudelson @LostMyHats I think that's the problem though. That is a strawman because no one is saying to neglect spiritual training for persecution. They are saying you need to physically prepare too! The issue in the church is too often spiritualizing things we ought to be taking action on.

In 2014 Gabe, the WWUTT guy, attacked me for launching #the15 movement, which was the very first, real grassroots uprising against Big Eva. He defended Lifeway, Ed Stetzer, and Russell Moore. A couple years later, he asked I take down an article about that because it was showing on Google searches and hurt his church’s witness (which I did because the goal wasn’t to hurt his church). But as history shows, he’s learned nothing, but he does teach a value lesson despite that. The lesson is that a huge swath of evangelical influencers are good for absolutely nothing but adding volume to the echo chamber. Many who fancy themselves as discerning, like Gabe here, only take a side after it’s clear which direction the wind is blowing; they have the discernment of a weathercock. Ministries like WWUTT are like a Temu Pulpit & Pen. Fake discernment. They appear discerning, because they scream really loud about doctrinal danger, but they’re only yelling two years after it matters and long after the position they take has been the popular one. Worse yet, they will always throw rocks at the guys ahead of the curve, and never apologize when they reluctantly change their own position. That’s what a lot (but not all) the criticism is of Christian Nationalism right now. Bashing certain leaders earns social capital. Jumping in on the dogpile is the cool thing to do. Men like Gabe don’t really have opinions. They just guess the opinion of others and then try to march at the front of the mob. And here - in his own John Piper ‘home invasion” moment -,he lectures Christians to put something ahead of securing the safety of our wives and children. Ordinarily when useless men have useless opinions, it’s no big deal. But when they give advice like this, they can actually be dangerous. Do not *ever* put something ahead of the sacred job ahead of you to protect your family and church. Bible study is important, but that’s what happens after you load, oil, and site your weapons, not before. And if a pastor ever tells you otherwise, he’s as dangerous as the thugs breaking in.

Sleeping with one’s girlfriend while leading a glorified Bible study on Sunday nights is a far cry from cheating on one’s wife as a pastor of an actual church. Different things are different.
