If an evacuation order is issued, UCLA will provide transportation to students living on the Hill, according to an email from campus administrators. Although no evacuation warning or order has been issued for Westwood as of 11 p.m., students should get essential belongings ready.

Y’all have no idea how much those of us that live in LA love this city.

Around 4 p.m., students in Los Angeles received an evacuation warning on their phones. A UCLA Police Department spokesperson confirmed that this was in error, and as of 4:20 p.m. there is no current warning or order for evacuation of the UCLA campus or Westwood area.

A smoke column from the Palisades Fire is currently visible above North Campus. The fire is currently burning near Topanga State Park and has reached approximately 20 acres with a rapid rate of spread, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department website. The National Weather Service issued a critical fire weather alert for LA and Ventura counties because of strong offshore winds and dry conditions. A Particularly Dangerous Situation warning for potentially destructive conditions was also issued for parts of Beverly Hills – including areas near UCLA’s campus. The original warning affecting UCLA was issued at 3:24 p.m. Monday and is expected to last until 6 p.m. Wednesday. A fire weather watch will remain in place throughout the week, according to NWS.
