Hey @FirstStreetFdn - curious how my place ended up with a 9/10 flood risk and 8/10 fire risk 🤔 It’s~500ft above a seasonal creek with no history of flooding, and fire comes close nearly every year. I work with water data, so would love to understand the logic behind this!

Just came here to make sure the that irony of severe weather occurring in OK the night it’s being reported that Trump’s DOGE is canceling the lease for the NOAA center in Norman, after laying off weather experts at NWS, isn’t lost on anyone oudaily.com/news/norman-we…

More great work led by @kbdobbin out based on the new California Water System Consolidation Survey, which talked with reps from ~1/3 of consolidations effected in CA since 2015. Including infographics with lessons learned for interested communities⬇️

I know CA’s in a tough spot, but removing access to water when few other resources exist is perpetuating injustice. These communities shouldn’t have to bear the brunt of our budget shortfall. @GavinNewsom sjvwater.org/proposed-state…

To tell 110 & 109 year old survivors, their descendants and a community that the city’s own mayor acknowledged remains damaged as a result of the massacre, that they can’t even get a chance at a fair trial, is utterly unfathomable and yet completely on brand for this state.

What started as a quick question to @gregspierce and @kbdobbin is now a new paper! Who can domestic well users turn to when their well goes dry? Turns out, not many places exist. We need more data, research, awareness/accountability, and assistance programs in the Southwest.

This very cool bill made it through the house and senate, only to be vetoed by Gov Stitt. This is why OK can't have nice things.

Check out our new paper, modeling water systems to support a climate-resilient WECC grid. We find climate impacts on the water sector tend to raise electricity use and lower hydropower generation, which could affect grid reliability and decarbonization. agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…
