Books seem a lot more expensive now, and I am becoming a much more selective book shopper. What I’ve slowly collected feels precious! Do you feel the same? Currently looking out for more manga for all ages and young teens.

@aliceleung Those are great! Wiping nose with a tissue or blowing nose helps, and putting tissues in the bin…….some of my students forget about that part of it 😷 And taking a small amount of hand sanitiser not shooting it across the room 😂

Miss 5 has practised doing these independently: Open/close lunch box ✅ Open food packets ✅ Use toilet in school uniform ✅ Lock/unlock a range of cubicle toilets ✅ Write her name with capital letter at start and then all lower case ✅ Is there anything else?

@miss_mcinerney I do direct to boot shopping for most grocery things that I buy (pantry staples). When I go into the shop I tend to buy more random things that I don’t really need. I also live close to a fresh food market so this year the goal is to drop in there each week for fresh food.

Question: Have any of you significantly changed how you weekly shop or what you eat to deal with food inflation? Anything that's helped rein the prices in for you?

How delightful to see my dear friend @CatJStephens receive an @acelaustralia New Voice Scholarship today. She is one of @DETVic’s best, doing complex work supporting schools in some of the state’s most disadvantaged communities. Good to see great #women in education recognised!

@redgierob Loved it, but just like when you see the movie version of the book you know so well, there are bits where you see how it’s been made to fit nicely.

@ryangnels @JasonAblin Yes I was about to say this too. Though most kids and teachers are tired around the 8 week mark! But ten weeks is the norm.

My first grade teacher, Mrs. Elcenora Martinez, just preordered two copies of my book and I am crying. 😭

@louiseb_teacher @MrTs_NQTs A way to organise things that are on your desk. And get dropped on your desk. And all the random bits and pieces. Work out a system to help keep your desk (if you have one) organised. Often we think of things to set up to make it easier for our students, but forget about us.

I'll be sorting out my first ever classroom over a couple of days during the summer holidays. Apart from backing boards and labelling trays, what other things do people usually sort out? I don't want to miss anything @MrTs_NQTs

I know this is random but.. my sister told me she tucks her dogs into bed every night. I told her to send me photos and now it’s my new favourite thing. Who else is doing this? 😍

Native animals are amazing. Put out a water dish in the garden= now every day the same birds visit. Planted a grevillea= wattle birds found it the next day. Planted lavender= blue banded bees turned up. Put some rocks in the garden= lizards! Habitat gardening is a bit magical✨🪴

If I were to open a pop-up bookstore to go sell books on beaches and in parks and at events… what would be an awesome name for it

@redgierob I think writing classes are usually more teacher and group oriented, with lots of brainstorming and idea sharing before going off to write. My students said they found it really hard to come up with ideas without their friends to bounce ideas off of during lockdowns.

@markdunnecork Already done. It’s not the same as having the lyric book. Having to stare at a screen and deal with ads is just not the same experience

Had to run around town trying to get Paolo Nutini’s new album (I’ve been waiting 8 years for a new release) Then my stereo remembered it doesn’t like Bluetooth or CDs anymore. So yes. I sat in the car listening on the best speakers that wanted to work for me today. #paolonutini

Collecting seeds from the garden is actually pretty awesome. Especially when the plants grew from a pack of seeds hopefully thrown in the garden during lockdown last year.
