On Rogan’s podcast, J Huang sounds like an abuelito who just wants to indulge in stories about his youth - a series of random events, some lucky, that made him think he invented the wheel. On Patel’s podcast, he sounds like a wise man with vast experience that gave him a stable world view. The kind of safe energy that makes you trust him with your money. These two can coexist, but it’s fascinating how there’s a little quantum something in us that depends on the (inter)viewer. Makes me think about how some people and places bring either the best or the worst out of me.

Just listened to Jensen Huang on Rogan's podcast. Late to the party, but I have to share these mind-blowing things I learnt: 1. NVIDIA single-handedly invented parallelism 2. UT researchers and NVIDIA are equally responsible for the AlexNet moment 3. Delusion works if you want to build the highest market cap company in the world

i actually might be bullish on nvidia. he's not the most well thought out person but he's a nearly perfect conduit for nvidia

recent opus models feel like what i can only describe as "clenched". they're constantly clenching their ass cheeks, gritting against something. have you ever unclenched your claude? it's great

the discourse about the dwarkesh jensen interview is ridiculous: the fact that a 25yo podcaster can make the ceo of the largest company in the world dance and answer to the people at all is impressive. the purpose of media is not to respectfully sing praises to the powerful

@magnushambleton jensen gives me the creeps a bit. there's something in my gut telling me somethings off but i dont know what. this might be the best explanation

It’s instantly clear within the first 3min of the Dwarkesh Jensen episode that unlike every single other person that is at the center of the singularity, Jensen did not spend his early twenties debating things on LessWrong

@viemccoy how would you suggest getting into the field and learning?

Ryan is very brilliant and Mats is incredibly important. One of the things I've realized trying to hire for the OAI red team is that there is a deficit of security and safety researchers! The time to learn the field is now, there are tractable problems and we need your help.

I recently gave a talk on why I think AI safety & security should grow 2x/year at @FundingCommons' Intelligence at the Frontier festival! youtu.be/hd35o-XowKQ?si…

@SkyeSharkie i think it's just a matter of time before those people feel it as well. it's just unfortunate the computer people are the first to be affected. we just have to hold on for the time being i feel

accelerationists are fake, they didn't accelerate anything, why am i, a computer worker, in poverty and unable to find work, while people with fake HR jobs at construction sites still have work? you failed, nothing was accelerated, it's all slow as shit

@chris_j_paxton they believe this rightfully. we can't just say they will benefit from ai rollouts, we have to actually show them and do it. this is just as important as rolling out the ai if not more.

It’s funny people are like “AI has a PR problem” now. As if you could just not tell people about the datacenters, about the potential for replacing workers, and it would be okay. It’s not a PR problem. It’s a problem problem!! The problem is real!

@Xenoimpulse optics is a small part of it. there's also no safety net in the US, and no belief in the public psyche that the majority will actually benefit from ai. this is a completely rational sentiment. once it's clear the general public will benefit from it materially things will improve

feels really weird that so many ai people are shocked at the sam altman violence. like surely u would've seen this coming? this is actual very rational given their framework, and so are all the people justifying it
