Pakistan's fruit map, in one thread: 🍎🥭🍑
Punjab grows almost all the mango, citrus, and guava in the country — the fertile plains that already produce most of the wheat and rice do the same for fruit. Roughly 8 in 10 mango and guava trees, and nearly every citrus tree, are in Punjab.
Balochistan tells a completely different story. Its cooler highlands around Quetta and Pishin produce nearly all of Pakistan's apples and pomegranates — over 90% of apple trees are there, not in the fertile plains you'd expect. It also grows most of the country's apricots and half its dates.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has quietly cornered peach production almost entirely — about 95% of the country's peach trees are in KP's hill districts.
Sindh splits the date trade with Balochistan and dominates banana growing along the Indus delta.
So next time you eat a Pakistani apple, it almost certainly came from the same province as your pomegranate, not from an orchard near Lahore. Climate, not just farmland, decides who grows what.
