🇭🇺 Hungary’s election will have major ripple effects across Europe.
Viktor Orbán’s departure has Brussels celebrating.
The new prime minister, Péter Magyar, is strongly pro European and is expected to repair ties with the EU that Orbán had badly damaged.
On Ukraine, the 90 billion EU loan that Orbán threatened to block is now likely to move forward more easily, even though Hungary will still opt out of contributing.
Magyar plans to slowly reduce energy dependence on Russia and has said he will tell Putin to end the war if they ever speak.
