@tsh So, is unicycle riding a core curriculum class in homeschooling? Haven’t met a unicycle rider who wasn’t raised in either homeschool or the circus.

At this weekend’s youth group talent show, friends of my kids are singing and dancing. My son, however, is shotgunning a can of soda while riding a unicycle. Scholarships, line up.

Serious reading question: Kindle or iPad Mini? 📖 I care about eye comfort for long sessions…but Kindle feels clunky with highlights and jumping to footnotes. For those who’ve used both, which is better?

9 / Thus, it seems likely that the cloud in the transfiguration represents the Spirit and thus it is a trinitarian scene, just like the baptism.

It is Transfiguration Sunday. Here is a thread on why we should understand the "bright cloud" as a sign of the Spirit and thus see this as an early text supporting the Trinity. 🧵

About 1/4 of the way through this book and I started slowing down. I recognized this was one of those books where after you finish it, you wish you could read it again for the first time. So I’m attempting to drag it out and savor it. It’s not working so well.

The language of praying “in Jesus’s name” (ἐν τῷ ὀνόματί μου) is concentrated in the Farewell Discourse and appears seven times: John 14:13–14; 15:16; 16:23–24, 26. Notably, this formulation does not occur elsewhere in the Gospel. This concentration is theologically significant. This not a formula to get what we want. In John, it signals the new era of Jesus’s mediatorial work in the heavens. Before the cross and resurrection, the disciples relate to the Father through Jesus’s physical presence. After Jesus’s cross, resurrection, and ascenision they will relate to the Father through Jesus’s name as he interceeds in the heavens. As Swete says, “the name of Christ is both the passport by which the disciples may claim access into the audience chamber of God, and the medium though which the Divine answer comes.”

Hey ding-dongs, let’s have a chit-chat about Ablaut reduplication. If you have three words, the order usually goes 'I-A-O.' -tic-tac-toe If there are only two words, ‘I’ is the first and the second is either ‘A’ or ‘O.’ -click-clack -King-Kong

I am slowly (ever so slowly) working on my new book proposal and am writing a sample chapter. It looks like I will be talking a little bit about near death experiences. The writing process is wild.
