The GOP are Fascists

Statement from The Atlantic:

005 [TA] Interview RR: Remember when journalists used to actually do journalism? They’d ask questions to the interviewee, and report back to their audience what the interviewee had to say. Sure, they might be some bias in their questions, but the interviewee had the opportunity to explain themself. It used to be the golden rule of good journalism.. do NoT insert your personal opinions into your reporting. Always remain objective. In this way, the audience of free thinking individuals would be presented with the same information and would form their own opinions. Those were the good ole days. Now we have activist journalists. [TA: 🙄 ] RR: Today’s journalism is narrative driven and attempts to convince their audience to support a particular viewpoint. If a journalist’s objective is to make their audience despise the interviewee, they’ll provide carefully edited sound bites, omit context, or simply not report on anything showing the interviewee in a favorable light. Misrepresenting facts to outright lies are acceptable.. IF it is done in support of the activist’s cause. After all, the name-of-the-game is to “get clicks”, so sensationalized headlines are common, and only articles tightly tailored to a particular ideology or cause pay the bills. So ideologues have now replaced traditional journalists. News has been replaced with propaganda. And the brainwashed masses who consume it, no longer seek out objective truths. [TA: 🥱 ] RR: Social media opened up a new paradigm of journalism. No longer does there need to be someone in between the interviewee and the audience. Individuals can speak directly to a larger audience.. In turn, the audience can provide direct, unfiltered feedback. The biases, opinions, and personal intentions of the activist journalist are being removed from the equation. Once the audience can hear directly from the source, then the interviewer is no longer needed. [TA: 😴 ]
