@ACW52 @_AlexOliva_ They scheduled defensive set piece training days after recording Middlesbrough potentially doing offensive set piece training. The fact they didn’t use it is more than likely because they got caught. It doesn’t mean they wouldn’t have used it.

So then why do it?
SaintsExtra@SaintsExtra

🚨 #SaintsFC showed the commission, in its entirety, the footage of Tonda Eckert’s session from the Wednesday before the first leg; in other words before Salt’s spying mission. The Southampton players had the day off on the Thursday, and on the Friday before the first leg, they did not work on team shape in open play. It was purely a defensive set-piece session, the footage of which they also shared with the panel. What Southampton and their legal team wanted to show – and which was borne out by the game – was that Eckert’s tactical approach did not change from the session on Wednesday. The club claim their defensive set pieces were not influenced by Salt’s visit to Middlesbrough’s training ground. [via @guardian]

@FILTHYRICHMAGS1 @ss74832681 The only reason Nottingham forest didn’t get to the final is because they played villa in the semi final. It’s pretty much a shootout between whatever two English teams are in it these days

Important point on this: These tickets cannot be scalped or resold. Non-transferable and will be given to winners on the day of the games, at the site from which fans will be transported via (free) buses to MetLife Stadium.

New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani has secured 1,000 $50 tickets to World Cup games at MetLife Stadium for New York City residents after negotiations with FIFA president Gianni Infantino... and a FaceTime call with former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. @benjyminty @DerekSynnott @CyclingKent101 Brake force is equal to the coefficient of friction between the pads and the discs multiplied by the clamping force applied by the callipers. This does not change no matter what the vehicle speed is. That doesn’t stop braking distance being non linear

@benjyminty @DerekSynnott @CyclingKent101 Correct, stopping distance is non linear, but braking force isn’t. Here’s a curve showing stopping distance vs initial speed when acceleration (braking) is constant, I.e. constant brake force.

@benjyminty @DerekSynnott @CyclingKent101 This assumes that rate of change of kinetic energy is constant during braking though… but it’s not, braking force is more likely to be constant, which means the person at 35 would be at 5 when the person at 30 had stopped.

@DerekSynnott @CyclingKent101 You doubt my ability to do simple arithmetic? Given that the mass of the car is constant we only to worry about the difference in the squares of the speed (KE = ½mv² and a car need to lose all of its moving energy to stop): 35²-30² = 18².

#SaintsFC #boro #Spygate Taking the emotion out of it, if a club is exposed, for example, as instructing their players to foul high up the pitch to prevent opponents’ counterattacks, should that also be punished with expulsion and points deductions? Is that also not cheating?

@IamBalhamMatt @DdraigTatws @Bernstein991Zio If it could be proven that it was intentional, e.g. if there had been messages sent between coaches joking about it for example, then yeah, I probably would expect points deductions/bans/expulsions from playoffs in that situation

I mean it’s a bit of a stretch but I suppose it’s just an interesting hypothetical really. Crank it up a notch, what about instructing your players to intentionally injure an opposing player because you’re happy to accept the yellow cards? (As Derby did against Gareth Bale back in 2007).

Sorry to get all rules police here but. On the penalty that Spurs were (yet again) not given. When Cucurella bundles Van de Ven to the ground (for which a foul was given - which in the area means penalty) the ball was in play. The rule is: the ball is in play once it is kicked..

Trying to imagine how angry I'd be as a Southampton player... That after 48 games of brutal Championship football, a relentless schedule... Representatives of your club have cost you the chance of promotion by spying behind a tree on the opposition with an iphone.

@danielstorey85 It’s funny sure however I would suggest waiting for Southampton’s inevitable appeal before crowing too much. I expect high court action will be launched tomorrow. This dispute could rumble on for months if not years.

@crepycidon @Oxford_Life @LewisJWarner Who knows, presumably planned to test on the line after it was built (which would only take 5 minutes and cost 50p). Honestly wouldn’t like to guess what they planned

@daveynufc @Oxford_Life @LewisJWarner So let’s run with that. How did they ever plan to get to that speed then ? Build it and just play with their exclusive £100bn train set for a few years longer? All to save negligble time. Uk is small. It doesn’t even need 199mph

NEW: HS2 trains will run slower than originally planned to cut costs, Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander is set to announce. The top speed will be reduced from 360km/h (224mph) to 320km/h (199mph), according to PA. That still makes HS2 faster than Japan’s bullet trains.

@crepycidon @Oxford_Life @LewisJWarner So it looks like they did test at higher speeds but the current operational speed limit is 300. Who knows if they would allow testing like that on a now operating rail line however.

@crepycidon @Oxford_Life @LewisJWarner Neither Italy nor Spain have any track which is limited higher than 300km/h. France has a few stretches at 320km/h, but the only countries which can reach even 350 are China and Indonesia.

@crepycidon @Oxford_Life @LewisJWarner What they are saying is we don’t have any suitable track to test trains at such high speeds, so we couldn’t start testing until the tract was built. At lower speeds, you can test and build at the same time. Nothing to do with energy/operational costs

@Oxford_Life @LewisJWarner Internet tells me that the kinetic energy is 26.6% more at 360kmh vs 320kmh And that 42.4% more power is needed to beat drag Surely they did this maths years ago before they even started this folly
