@zero__ms > @convex 100% Convex: Is paid, not standard postgres (need to build according to their own database design) and you pay for reactivity. Zero: FREE. Faster. Normal postgres. Signal based. Bundle it with @solid_js signals and @neondatabase and way better
David Siewert@david1gp

Can @zero__ms dethrone @convex as a favorite webdev tech stack, that @theo baited us all into? Since Zero has reached 1.0 and is considered now to be stable.

@venelinkochev you can copy and insert this into the expression box: pastebin.com/P9nGHijJ there are some paths related to laravel, ask claude to extend this for your framework if you want

Pro tip: add a Cloudflare WAF rule to block common scanner paths like .env, .git, wp-login they get blocked at the edge and never touch your server

@ddaalee @devagrawal09 @powersync_ And completely unnecessary as well. Could be simple library calls and expressed in code with all the auto complete and type safety. No ones likes to configure yaml files.

@devagrawal09 @powersync_ I somehow never took it seriously. Weaker DX. For me it seems like you have to much manual boilerplate, having to write sql queries in yml files. No authorative server side validation for new writes? Unacceptable It seems to me like a more earlier/unpolished version of Zero.

@zero__ms @convex @theo Summary - convex - more beginner friendly, with many well made plugins/components - zero - more raw client performance with build-in client caching and a more scalable self hosted backend

@zero__ms @convex @theo Self hosting Convex - is only single instance (on self hosted) and does not scale beyond a single instance (you would have to switch to the Cloud offer or write it yourself)

@zero__ms @convex @theo Self hosting Zero - hosting is a bit more complex to setup (vs convex), because of more moving parts - includes a minimum of 3 servers: postgres, api-server, cache-server - allows to scale read replicas

@zero__ms @convex @theo Convex - built-in ui reactivity/subscriptions - includes/provides an integrated (and an overpriced) s3 storage api - multiple auth options - has plug and play components: r2, agents, payments, etc

Comparing Zero vs Convex: Both - use sql db underneath (postgres for zero, mysql for convex cloud) - have own query language - strong schema support, validation and type safety - open source, self hostable

@Rasmic @convex Hey Micky, The mobile design seems a bit broken and does not fit horizontally. Needing to scroll to the right seems wrong.

Want to request a new feature that the @convex team should implement? Here's how you do it... > go to ship.convex.dev > you get 100 convex chips > request a feature (you must invest 20 chips to request a feature) > you can back requested features (with chips) > when features get shipped get 1.5x return on chips > spin the wheel weekly for chips Check it out

@CloudflareDev Why are the token names completely messed up in the cloudflare dashboard display? Do people all use it on mobile or something for no one to notice it?

@jasonfried It's not really fast if you are in asia (some distance away from usa). Every interaction feels like it takes a second or more. I think you need something like Linears offline sync/write feature to truly be seamless?

Fuck it, we just made Fizzy completely free. The open source installable version was always free, but the SaaS version was pay. No more. Basecamp and HEY's largess will subsidize Fizzy for all. So go grab your account at Fizzy.do. It's Kanban the way it should be, not the way it has been. Fresh, fun, light, fast, and perfect for working with agents, too. An official CLI is coming soon as well. Stay tuned for that. The native iOS app should be out once Apple approves it (it's in approval right now...). Android is already out, you can get it on the Play store. (and BTW if you were a paying customer, you will no longer be charged moving forward)

@hugorcd @aisdk @vite_js Really want to like the library, but the client side logs seem like I have to implement log drains myself and burden my own servers. Is there some standard implementation or endpoints I can configure to skip burdening my own server? or setup a separate docker image?

What a week for evlog Shipped a ton of cool stuff: • @aisdk integration (2 lines for full observability) • File-system adapter (logs for agents to crawl) • @vite_js plugin (massive DX upgrade) • Custom adapter toolkit • Benchmarks are looking really good Thread below
