Five candidates for California Governor. An audience of 1,400 attendees. Dozens of Jewish organizations represented. Last night’s Jewish California Governor 2026 Candidate Forum was a tremendous success. We are deeply grateful to our cohosts, @jfedla, @jpaccalifornia, and the Skirball Cultural Center, for making this event possible. We also extend our appreciation to the five candidates for governor, @stevehiltonx, @mattmahansj, @tomsteyer, @ericswalwell, and @avillaraigosa, for the opportunity to hear directly about their vision for leading California and how they plan to engage with and support Jewish life across our state. Looking forward to continuing the conversation and working together in the months ahead! 📺️ Missed the livestream? Watch the recording here: youtube.com/live/g06aJDA8_…

JPAC is now JEWISH CALIFORNIA – Our Voice in Sacramento. For more than 50 years, we’ve brought Jewish community institutions together to advocate statewide for safety, dignity, and shared values. As antisemitism and hate rise, Jewish organizations face increased threats, and the services that support our most vulnerable neighbors are increasingly at risk. In this moment, clarity about who we are and how we show up has never mattered more. JEWISH CALIFORNIA reflects who we are today: the nation’s largest statewide coalition of Jewish organizations, speaking with one unified voice. We’re proud to enter this next chapter. 🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨 Today, on the second anniversary of the October 7 attacks, California took historic steps to more aggressively combat antisemitism and hate in K-12 schools. We thank Governor @GavinNewsom for officially signing AB 715, the landmark bill to counter antisemitism in schools, into law! This achievement was years in the making and would not have been possible without the leadership of Assemblymembers @AsmRickZbur and @AsmDawnAddis, California Legislative Jewish Caucus co-chairs Assemblymember @AsmJesseGabriel and Senator @Scott_Wiener, the Legislative Diversity Caucuses, and our incredible partners at @JPACCalifornia. Most importantly, thank you to our community! Your dedication, advocacy, and unity made the passing of this historic bill possible.

We did it! @CAGovernor Gavin Newsom signed AB 715 into law – our landmark bill to counter antisemitism and hate in California’s K-12 schools. Jewish students can now feel safer in their classrooms, and schools will be better equipped to recognize, prevent, and respond to hate. This milestone was possible because 72 Jewish organizations – and tens of thousands of parents, students, educators, and advocates – came together and spoke out. We are deeply grateful to @asmrickzbur, @asmdawnaddis, and the entire @CAJewishCaucus for their tireless leadership – and to Governor @GavinNewsom for standing strong with the Jewish community. We made history together. Learn more YesOnAB715.com #AB715 #CAJewishVoice

In a recent piece for the @SFChronicle, Rabbi @Ryan_Bauer of @templeemanuelsf writes: "AB 715 affirms that Jewish students — like their Muslim, Black, Asian American, LGBTQ+, immigrant and all other classmates — have the right to learn without being demeaned… Passing AB 715 is how we ensure all children can learn and thrive." This week, we introduced AB 1468, a landmark bill to ensure that ethnic studies is taught appropriately in our schools – free from factually inaccurate and antisemitic content. Take 30 seconds to urge key lawmakers to support: secure.everyaction.com/0iknOlEntEKTVO… We won’t sugarcoat it: this will be a fight. Those pushing to inject harmful content into our classrooms are loud. We need to be louder. Thank you to our champions: @AsmRickZbur, @AsmDawnAddis, and @SenJoshBecker and the 31 diverse co-authors!

SB 85 (Wiener), our bill that extends critical case management services for refugees by three months beyond the federal government’s 90 days, just passed the Assembly floor with on a 49-0 bipartisan vote. That gives new refugees twice as much time to find housing, jobs, healthcare, and community. Jewish Family Service agencies – supported by @HIASrefugees – are some of the state's leading refugee resettlement agencies. Special thanks to Senator @Scott_Wiener for championing this bill, and to our co-sponsors @HIASrefugees, @CHIRLA, and the CA Welcomes Coalition. Inspired by our own immigration stories, 35 Jewish organizations joined JPAC in support. On to one final vote in the Senate!
