Day 2 – we also visited Elf Howe Farm #Staveley where they have planted trees along the river bank to create shade, added boulders & introduced wood into the river to slow the flow & reconnect to the floodplain #RiverKent @LIFER4everKent @SCRiversTrust @NaturalEngland @EnvAgency

A rather rainy start but another leaky dam installation, this time in the #riverkent catchment. Thanks to volunteers, SCRT staff and the landowner for helping build these #slowtheflow features. More river restoration work happening - watch this space! #naturalfloodmanagement

We had a look at some large willow cuttings we "sabre planted" yesterday. This is when head-high cuttings are planted rather than the usual 30cm pegs, so they are already above browsing height. Doing well so far but will need checking next Spring too. @green_lancaster @UBoCarbon
