I knew Justin Fairfax. Our paths crossed during my first run for the General Assembly. Every interaction I had with him was professional, respectful, and measured.
What happened to him politically should make everyone uncomfortable—regardless of party.
At the exact moment Ralph Northam was facing collapse over the blackface scandal, allegations surfaced against Fairfax that effectively ended his political future overnight. He was never charged. He was never prosecuted. And once his career was over, the allegations faded from public view just as quickly as they appeared.
That pattern—unproven allegations surfacing at the precise moment someone is about to rise politically—is not new. We’ve seen it play out nationally with figures like Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas. Whether you believe those claims or not, the timing is always the same—and the damage is always permanent.
Now we’re watching the aftermath of a life that, by any objective measure, was derailed in a matter of weeks.
And the same political class that stood by—or benefited—at the time is now offering thoughts and prayers.
That’s the part that ought to turn your stomach.
If we’re going to be honest about accountability in this country, it has to cut both ways. Destroying someone publicly without due process, without proof, and without consequence is not justice. It’s politics at its worst.
And it keeps happening because it works.

The entire Civil Rights Movement under MLK Jr. was based on Aquinas’ Natural Law view that an unjust law is not a law at all and any law that refuses to recognize the full dignity of a human being which is what slavery and Jim Crow laws did are not legitimate laws that should exist or be followed. One cannot come to this conclusion without having a religious worldview than every person is created in the image and likeness of God.

I do think we need to be careful suggesting that Christian leaders have no role in speaking to politics. I don’t agree with that. Obviously scripture will have a lot to say about the best policies for a moral nation.
My issue is when we don’t have transparency about what machinations are going on behind the scenes and who is influencing ministries and leaders behind closed doors.
Likewise, I don’t believe in political pronouncements handed down from on high. I think the question of what scripture requires from a Christian when it comes to various policies is a very legitimate matter of public debate.
So if a Church leader DOES enter the arena of speaking to specific policies, then it is absolutely fair that his claims will be questioned and debated.
But every square inch of this world belongs to Christ, and that includes the world of politics.

@DarrigoMelanie Fantastic. Would rather corporations keep their money because they will see to it that it creates the most growth rather than have the government confiscate it to pay for Learing Centers and hospices that have a 95% survival rate.

But Republicans want you to think someone working 40 hours a week for poverty wages, relying on SNAP and Medicaid to survive, is the problem.

@EditrixLane @TylerLeeConway My type is the type that opposes the genocide of unborn children.
English

@davidmcc1975 @TylerLeeConway The money PP gets from the government doesn’t go towards abortion services.
I know your type don’t tend to view women’s health services as “needed” but that’s what the money is for.
English

But when DW cashes checks from donors connected to Israel, that’s just… business? The trail only goes one direction when it owns the Never-Trumpers. Got it.
Also, Hewlett gave a restricted grant for anti-idolatry training, not abortions.
Megan Basham@megbasham
French and Moore have only taken money from the people who pay Planned Parenthood to perform the abortions. No big deal! Why are you uptight evangelicals so bothered by that?

Iran doesn’t have civilian infrastructure. No totalitarian despotic nation has civilian infrastructure. Their infrastructure is dual use meaning that even if civilians use it, the govt uses it for military and strategic purposes as well. That is why we are targeting them. That is not a war crime. It would only be a war crime for example if we bombed a bridge which existed for the soul purpose of civilians using it to access food or water. All of our strikes have strategic purposes.
English

@davidmcc1975 @McCormickProf @DrCalumMiller They are committing them in Iran as we speak. Taking out civilian infrastructure.

@jason_howerton @howertonjosh The Parable of the Talents is the epitome of capitalism.
English

@howertonjosh Not to mention how much the Bible emphasizes private property ownership. There’s nothing socialist about the scripture - I don’t even understand how you could come to this conclusion tbh
English

Coming to believe ~90% of the political differences among Christians boil down to a failure to distinguish between the Biblical roles of the individual, the church, and the State.
No, God did not command governments to forcibly redistribute wealth.
Yes, God commanded Christians as individuals to practice charity.
Individual Christians in Acts “gave willingly and not under compulsion.”
Christians in Acts did not vote for the Emperor to increase the marginal tax rate and call that “generosity.”

Tucker’s latest guest: “Capitalism shouldn’t be anywhere near Christianity. Christianity is socialism at its core.” Tucker agrees

@LGump10 @howertonjosh @drbone4tx It can’t be both. Just like a glass of water that has 1% cyanide is contaminated. It is not 99% pure. It is 100% impure.
English

@brianschatz Guess what….In a totalitarian-authoritarian state there is no such thing as civilian infrastructure. It all belongs to the government.
English

@BernieSanders How do you have dialogue with a nation whose ultimate goal is martyrdom and who killed over 30,000 of its citizens simply for peacefully protesting?
English

@SenWarren So you really want to confiscate $7 billion from an American citizen for no reason other than he possesses wealth?
English

@davidmcc1975 @timkaine Whereas America bombs countries hosting peace negotiations, sinks unarmed ships and makes no attempt to rescue the drowning mariners, bombs countries it is supposedly negotiating with, and assassinates leaders it doesn't like in other countries, even when democratically elected
English

We are trying to rescue a downed American in Iran. Hegseth’s boasts about “no quarter,” “no mercy,” and axing “stupid rules of engagement” mean we have to hope that Iran follows the humanitarian laws that US leaders now dismiss. axios.com/2026/03/15/tru…

We must be clear eyed about what is at stake with the Supreme Court right now. We cannot allow Donald Trump to hand pick one, if not two, additional justices. The nation's highest court must be stopped from becoming even more beholden to him.

@BernieSanders Marxism 101: it fails every time it is tried
English

Ok, Jamie: Let me clear things up for you.
If my 5% wealth tax on billionaires was enacted you’d owe $135 million more in taxes & a family of 4 making $150,000 or less would receive a $12,000 payment.
Oh, and you’d still be worth more than $2.5 billion. Seems pretty fair to me.
Acyn@Acyn
Kilmeade: What do you say to people like Bernie Sanders who says billionaires don't pay their fair share? Dimon: I don't know what he means by fair share

@chicagobulls I will never understand why professional sports teams hate the values of their players and the values of their fans.
