Something to note before the lottery: there is one team that Wizards fans should be fine with jumping into the top four. That is the Dallas Mavericks. They have no need for a forward or big man, so if they jump they likely take Peterson or Acuff. That means one of Boozer or Wilson will fall to fifth.

For this hypothetical trade the fifth pick for Trey Murphy deal that's floating around, it's going to cost a ton just because of matching salary. This would have to be a baseline, and to me it just doesn't make since to give up that much.

I don’t personally see why the team should trade for him. Especially if they draft Wilson, Boozer, or AJ. Durant will just take away needed developmental minutes.

I’m not sure if Kevin Durant would be willing to play his last few years in his hometown but….AD + a 2027 lottery protected first works for KD + Capela in the 2026-2027 league year when KD’s salary reduces from $54.7M to $43.9M. KD would be a much better offensive fit with Sarr compared to AD imo. Also with the 2027 draft not projected to be as good and with already a lot of young players on rookie deals, I’d be willing to get rid of a non-lottery first to get KD and move off Davis’ albatross of a contract.
