Hey @westjet I think it was really inappropriate for flight attendant Darren on WS3660 (Aug 2) to make a speech in support of striking flight attendants when he was supposed to be making a safety briefing.

No apology from CUPE or #westjet cabin crew for their actions that affected thousands of people. Typical.

There are these things called airplanes which can transport you from Thailand to Canada. 🤦🏼‍♂️ The flight attendant shouldn’t give me his policy or political views prior to the safety briefing. That is totally inappropriate. And if he doesn’t like his job or employer or compensation he is free to work elsewhere.

Western Canadian communities rely on dependable air service from WestJet. The ongoing labour dispute at WestJet is creating uncertainty and challenges for everyone involved, particularly the thousands of travellers whose travel plans have been disrupted. I encourage all parties to continue negotiating in good faith to reach a fair and timely agreement that minimizes any further disruptions. It is my hope that an agreement can be reached quickly to restore stability and reliability for workers, the airline, travellers, and the broader economy.

My WestJet flight is scheduled to leave in less than 25 hours. I am connecting onward to Europe and can’t rebook until the flight is officially cancelled. We all know @westjet won’t be flying so please get on with cancelling so your alliance partner can rebook.

Any goodwill @WestJet built up with customers disappeared years ago. Fee after fee. Service that kept getting worse. Endless efforts to dodge compensation and passenger rights whenever possible.

@ChicksDigScores @WestJet Hang in there. The flight attendants picked this time of the year to hurt as many people as possible. It’s shameful. If possible, don’t cancel your plans. You give up all your rights as a passenger once you preemptively cancel or book another flight or take a refund.

So, the strike was initiated at 12:01 AM MT, but my @WestJet flight hasn’t been cancelled. They’re dragging their feet to avoid addressing the fact that my family needs to get home. I’m so over the lack of competition in Canada…
