Portland has lost a legend & an icon of the queer community. 💙 @DarcelleXV died at age 92 & had the distinction of being the worlds oldest drag queen, still performing multiple nights a week at her club in Downtown Portland into her twilight years.

It's my annual question: what are your favorite games to play with kids around the ages of 5-8? We've enjoyed Go Nuts for Donuts, Rat-a-tat-cat, Sleeping Queens, Mole Rats in Space, etc.

@CrystalLigori @dbphys Just had our first East Glisan Detroit-style tonight! Been a fave spot for years — but first time having their Detroit. We will do it again!

@dbphys Right - tons of really good Detroit style/grandma pizza in PDX (East Glisan 4 Eva) but yeah casserole-style feels like a good descriptor for the Chicago deep dish I’m thinking of.

Do we think it’s a good idea for me to get a frozen deep dish to take home to Portland tomorrow? (And yes, I get people hate on it for not being pizza, but TBH, it still tastes good & there’s not anyone doing it really in the PNW.)

Take a quick read, or better yet a listen if you didn’t already catch it live. I airs again at 3:44 and 5:44 today on @OPB. Fantastic reporting by @CrystalLigori. Our Portland-area chefs and restauranteurs are impressive on so many levels. #pdxfoodies

Fantastic story just out on @OPB about 3 #OREGONAF participants - Liz Davis from @Xicopdx, Eugene Jung from Skaut Coffee Roasters and Sandra Arnerich from @renatapdx. It was a joy to work with them this summer at @oenorg and w @daviskimber on this story! opb.org/article/2022/1…

It’s an end to an 18-year era, and sad, but now I need #PDX Twitter to help me change my grocery routine so I can continue to buy fresh, local & reduce our use of plastic. What you got?

I’ve been a loyal @newseasons customer since 2004 (!) but today, I think I’m done.

We are working *so hard* to reduce plastic in our household & I can’t financially support a supposed @BCorporation that moves our family & the community backwards.

Today I tried to buy ground turkey in butcher paper—as I have done for 18 years!—and the meat counter employee waved me to a cooler with 1 lb. packages of ground turkey in hard plastic containers with plastic wrap on top:

@lizzzyacker I am in denial. Read both her books. Julie and Julia was a brilliant concept. It’s one that I recommended to many.

@lizzzyacker I started one during the pandemic. I’d had it for years. Still blank and was.. intimidated?!? No regrets. I’m hooked.

@ylichterman echoing similar sentiments that it's marginally more time consuming than a coffee maker and substantially better tasting. I use a single-cup ceramic dripper (cheaper than Chemex) and i'm not wasting any coffee by making large pots that just sit there going cold.

hello coffee drinkers of Twitter — I am thinking I would like to get into pour over coffee. Is it worth the hassle of making it that way every morning? I've been looking at buying a Chemex. Do they make good coffee or do they just look cool? Please share your insights/advice!
